Shooting a revolver without a barrel

The hot gases probably wouldn't do the female barrel threads any good?

Stuff like this just galvanizes the anti-gun crowd, perpetuates how they want Americans to see gun owners, and bolsters their agenda, aside from the abject stupidity of the act.

No, no it does not. You simply having a firearm does that. Furthermore, STOP TRYING TO PLACATE THEM! They don't care and it does nothing to kake them stop. They want to stop you, little Timmy down the street, me, Joe Bob, Susie, Juan, Ivan, and everyone else from owning and carrying firearms.

Simply shooting a barrel-less Model 10 doesn't do any of what you claim.

Hell, all that will happen is a big flash, louder noise, and horrible accuracy expect for phonebooth distances. Oh, reduced velocity too.

This seems like a heck of a deal to get a round butt K-frame. Barrels are available and relatively inexpensive. It doesn't say otherwise, so I'll assume all the working parts are there except for the barrel. If I needed another K-frame .38, I would be on that one.

I did just that, and it is now one of my favorite guns. The one that I bought was surplus from the Indonesian national police- which, oddly enough was the same as the 4" barrel Model 10s I bought from Classic Firearms at about the same time.

No, I did not fire it without a barrel- but I thought about it.

You have me puzzled, just which side of this are you on?

Here is a pic of all 3 of the former Indonesian Police model 10s:

Shooting a revolver that doesn't have a barrel? Hmmm... I'm thinking that the accuracy may be a bit underwhelming. ;)

It would be interesting to chronograph one to see what kind of velocities you'd get. Should be pretty devastating at point blank range, especially with 158 gr SWC. Hey, you'd never have to worry about a leading problem! :D

Recall an article in one of the gun mags 50 years ago or so, the writed used a Dan Wesson, arms length/table top "accuracy".
Would an S&W even fire w/o a barrel? The ejector rod is part of the cylinder lockup.
