I took my Kimber 22 Hunter out for a spin Sunday. I revamped her rifle case with some new foam and black felt and I wanted to show it off to the guys at the range. We did our standard money shoots at 50 yards and I won a few bucks. When we were done playing for cash I started shooting at 100 yards just to get some numbers off the scope written down for doping the rifle. She did very well considering I was using cheap ammo, Federal 714 bought for $15 a brick before the great ammo hoarding of 2009. A few groups were sub MOA and a few were just a bit over MOA. Next time I'm going to take a box of Tenex and get a real measure of her capabilities but if it's anything like 50 yards the rifle and ammo will way outshoot me.

All shooting was done from a concrete bench and bipod with a lead filled rear bag. The trigger is set at 14oz, conditions were as close to dead calm as I have ever seen, The wind flags barely wiggled one or twice all day.

Kim in her new digs.

The top group is off to the right because I waited until after the money matches to loosen the scope a bit to level the crosshairs by one degree.

Excellent shooting! What scope are you using?

I am going out of town for a few weeks but when I get back I'll see if I can get anywhere close to you with my CZ 452.
I almost never shoot at 100 yds:eek:

That is one serious .22 rifle!

I have recently developed a new enthusiasm for .22 rifles, I'm sure a Kimber will find a home with me sometime soon, some sort of target rifle...

The scope is an older Philipine made Simmons 6x20x44. I'm not sure it would sure it would survive the recoil on a centerfire rifle, but it is doing just fine on the rimfire. I found out sunday that the scope is repeatable, when I clicked it back down to the 50 yard setting it was right in the bull.

Your CZ should shoot every bit as well as the Kimber with the right ammo. I had a 452 trainer that was every bit as accurate just not quite as pretty.

now that is pretty impressive I may need to steal my brother in laws 10/22 and see if I can get close
Unless his 10/22 has an aftermarket barrel and trigger chances are you won't get close. Stock Ruger barrels are not known for thier accuracy, and thier triggers are not known for adjustabillity. They are very rugged, just not very refined.

I love my .22 rifles because I can shoot them all day long for just a few dollars, they don't leave my shoulder sore, and I don't need big clunky ear muffs on hot summer days. If you want a Kimber you should start looking now KoO 82s are getting pricey and the KoA 22s were discontinued a few years ago. You can still get the 82G from CMP for $600, but they are selling pretty briskly as the rimfire guys love them.

I'll try with both my 10/22's and my CZ. If I had the scope on the Marlin 60, I'd try that also. Yep, I like 22's also.
But wait there's More.:)

I love .22 rifles! I've never been able to afford a Kimber, or just didn't want to spend that much at the time, but they are definitely fine rifles! I'm also a fan of the bolt action. They're hard to beat for accuracy! Fine rifle and fine shooting you have!

Try two hundred yards.

Try two hundred yards. On a windy day it’ll bring tears to your eyes and those tears won’t be of joy either.

You have the pretty 452, Sweet!!

Nice rifle and shooting.Did your Kimber come with an adjustable trigger?

Yes Kimbers triggers are adjustable for weight, engagment, and overtravel, if I wanted to get the pull below 12oz I would have to swap some internal springs. They came set from the facory with a 4lb pull.

Will a 22lr even break trough the paper at that range??? :) :) :)

Nice shooting. I bought a Kimber Hunter about 6 years ago and I have come to really love that rifle. Twenty-Twos are a favorite of mine, but this Kimber is simply wonderful. I scoped her up with a 3x9 Burris R/A scope and with Wolf Match Target ammo, the 50 yard groups are just bug-holes. I'm going to try some 100 yard shooting just to see what results I'll get.

It’s not for the faint of heart.

It’s not for the faint of heart. I believe you have to be masochist to find enjoyment in it. The bullet makes a smudge mark as it slides down the paper target.
