Shootings Down in NY

As a long time resident I will just say, believe what you want!

What's there to believe? I just don't get it. My point is that a governor that never met a gun control scheme she didn't embrace, announced shootings were down and could not state her cherished gun control schemes are the reason. Thats it, nothing more. How that morphed into bonds is beyond me. I give up, I admit defeat, I'm crying uncle...its hopeless.

How that morphed into bonds is beyond me....

Fact is recent "statistics" from "reliable sources" show crime is down massively in many jurisdictions. Some of us "cynics" understand that if no charges are filed or person is "non adjudicated" there simply is no crime. If a person "doesn't exist" in this country but is killed in a turf war with a rival gang member, who also does not exist in this country, then no crime was committed. Dogpile please, best I can with what I see. Joe

Funny thing about those darned stats. While the Feebs are claiming 46 homicides in NYC, the local stats (NYPD comp stat show & tell) show 82.

Down grading offenses, holding back until next quarter/year/whatever, under reporting so the political subdivision/politicos doesn't look bad is a long standing practice.

Color me skeptical but I have feeling that the way the crimes are reported or defined has the most to do with it.
As I understand it, in 2021 the FBI instituted a new system for reporting crimes and this new system makes it so difficult to report crimes that many crimes simply do not get reported. Makes the crime stats look good, but the stats no longer reflect reality.

I think the best idea that would bring down crime rates...

A real life Charles Bronson, Death Wish style.

Similar tactics have been used by local PDs here. It's beyond infuriating. I've learned they like to file reports as "information only" so it doesn't end up as crime stats. Then the cities look better and less crime ridden...

A recent NRA-ILA report explains how the Crime Prevention Research Center found that "one factor contributing to the ostensible dip in violent crime is that almost 40% of local law enforcement agencies are no longer transmitting their information to the national Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) database."

Here's more from the NRA-ILA report:

In "2021, 37% of police departments stopped reporting crime data to the FBI (including large departments for Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York)," and for other jurisdictions, like Baltimore and Nashville, crimes are being underreported or undercounted. This leaves a large gap; by 2021, the real crime data collected by the FBI represented only 63% of police departments overseeing just 65% of the population. When compared to pre-2021 data, the result is a questionable "decline" in crime.

But of course! If a crime goes unreported, did it "really happen"? /sarc.

I miss the days when the laws were enforced and we didn't care about feelings.
