There have been several criticisms of my choice of a California Roster SD9VE but the extra safety features don't bother me a bit.
In particular some folks have objected to the magazine safety that prevents the gun from firing if the magazine is out. My response is that if it fires with the magazine out, no additional rounds are in the gun, so a second trigger pull would have no result.
I do have some 16 round magazines but don't really bother after the magazine starts to complain at 15, not much of a handicap.
I also appreciate that my gun has been repeatedly drop tested without firing a primer-only case. [Most likely all SD's would pass that test, but I know with certainty that my version passed.]
In our house, there is no live ammo in whatever room the gun is being cleaned or broken down.
When I was 12 years old, or so, all I had was a rifle, so pointing it in the wrong direction was easy to control, not so with pistols. When testing with snapcaps, the chimney is the only thing at risk, just in case a snapcap decides to somehow become live.
So, if I don't pack in 16 rounds and don't buy some sort of 3 round magazine extension, call me unprotected but call me safe.

One more thing. The proposed law that would allow anyone in our state to open carry without a license, or even any documented training, got a bad rap from a police chief. I really hope the law goes down to defeat.
