Shot my 109 year old S&W today!

I bought this 3rd Model .38 Double Action a little over a month ago for just $139. It has a mechanically sound action and a perfect bore. I put 100 rounds through it today at Bass Pro Shop's range. I was amazed at how well it shot, even with the tiny sights. Who says these old breaktops are difficult to shoot? I'm waiting on a letter from Roy to find out a bit of its history.

Here's the target, 10 rounds at 25 feet, fired single action:

I shot my dad's Model 19-3 too. It's a round butt gun that he put a 4" barrel on years ago. It has a super slick action and a polished, wide trigger. This was double action at 50 feet:

Nice little 3rd model, always good to hear these guns are still being used for what they were designed to do!

Hi mm6mm6 that gun i was mentioning in your other post was a 4th Model .38 Hammerless not a .38DA 3rd Model but picked it up tonite for 150 i'll post pics when i get it home along with the .32 there neat guns for sure.Its got a set of pearlies on it too.

It is a pretty awesome feeling. I popped a few through my grandfather's 4th model this year. I had a hard time believing it is about 111 years old (see my earlier post on the gun here). Action is real smooth and fires wonderfully. However it has more heirloom value than value as a shooter, so it's going in a display case (with a letter when I get that sent for).
