shot my M&P .45 for the first time

I picked up this unfired M&P .45, other than the one round Tom put thru it - from a private collection about 1 year ago and for one reason or another I had decided that I was never going to shoot it. I picked it because I really liked how well it fit my hand. Probably better than any other S&W .45 auto I'v held.

I stopped and shot about 20 rounds and killed that rock dead as a doornail.

I REALLY LIKE this pistol.

I called a friend yesterday and he's going to buy my Glock because I no longer see a need to keep it.

I had wanted a .45 for a long time but not a big one. A couple of friends recommended the Glock M36. I think its along the line of the Shield - its Glocks smallest 45. I ended up not really liking it.

I do really like my M&P and I'm looking forward to shooting it more. A lot more.

If you're going to carry this gun regularly, do yourself a favor and get a decent holster. You'll spend over $100, but it will be worth it.

True that. I have one Miami Classic by Galco, and it is one of the most comfortable ones out there...goes about 150 bucks though.

I bought a M&P 45 that was a police trade in. It is a nice shooting pistol. I did put in an Apex duty/carry trigger. I was surprised on the lack of recoil.

I was surprised at the lack of recoil too.

Beside how well it fits my hand that's another reason I enjoyed shooting it soo much.

I'm very pleased with it even after only putting 20 rounds through it. More very soon.

I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but, do not buy a Serpa holster. There are many reasons why this holster is not a good one, but I'll save that for another time.

That's why I bought a cheap one.

Friend I hear you and we all want to save a few dollars. However, the holster is an area we shouldn't skimp on. You might only carry when on the ATV, but if you're out for 6 hours, you might wish you had a better one. We only care about comfort when we're uncomfortable. Better to be a little uncomfortable in the pocket book for a moment than to have an uncomfortable holster for hours one day.

The Safariland 578 Pro fit holster will also work. You can use it for a bunch of different guns also.

Will see. I have a 4" 2.0 on the way. Been waiting on them. I like my M&P40. Haven't shot any .45 out of anything but 1911s. Will be an opportunity to compare a 1.0 with Apex parts to a stock 2.0.

This one is just an M&P .45 - not a 1.0 or 2.0.

I'm happy enough enough with this one that I doubt I'll be shopping for anything else as far as .45s go or any other auto pistol.

Yours is a 1.0 model. The term "1.0" is an affectation that was applied to the original when the 2.0 model came out. It's an easy way to denote the original. There is no 1.0 on the original so, if yours doesn't say 2.0 on the slide, it's a 1.0.

In 2013 I only owned one gun, a 640-1.
In 2014 my brother gave me two more guns.
In 2016 I bought one more.
Over the past year I picked up 10 more including the first rifle I have ever owned.

I have 5 that I have never shot. One that I never never will shoot and one that I will probably never shoot.

I'm hoping that I'm done. LOL

My King Holster.

I have never intended on my M&P .45 being an EDC.
I do not want to carry it in a belt holster while riding.
Don Johnson & Miami Vice had nothing to do with me wanting a shoulder holster. It fits this particular need better than a belt holster.
I Googled shoulder holsters and the King Holster came up on the list of top 5 more than once.
I read the pros and cons.
The shoulder straps are 2.25" wide and are plenty comfortable for me.
It is adjustable and fits me just fine.
Yes, the price was another deciding factor.

I've worn it for several days now and other than the bulk of the gun itself I would never know I'm wearing it.

If I were to carry this all the time I would have bought a different holster.
I would have bought a vertical carry rather than a horizontal carry and I have no doubt that I would have spend what ever the holster that fit my needs would have cost. I don't have a problem spending money and I'm not "cheap".

I think better wording would have been "less expensive".

I also did some homework before purchasing my Blackawk Serpa holster for my Glock M36. I was very aware of the potential hazard of a AD when drawing the the weapon and my finger pulling the trigger, especially with my Glock.

I still preferred this holster over the others that I looked at.

I am not a weapons expert by any means but have a few friends who are. Two of them are also tactical experts who I console with prior to making such purchases.

I do appreciate those who are looking out for me.
