Shot Show 2016 rumors?

First, I am an S&W fan boy. With that being said I just seen that Ruger is releasing a new polymer framed pistol, the Ruger American Pistol. I watched Dave Spaulding's review of it on Youtube and it seems to be everything that we wished the M&P was. It is ergonomic( 3 back straps and 1911 grip angle), has a Glock/Apex style trigger with a short uptake and positive reset, and the 9mm appears to be accurate! S&W needs to stop screwing around and upgrade/fix the M&P line. They need to fix the accuracy issue once and for all, ditch the hinge trigger and adopt a Glock/Apex style trigger and update the sear and striker block. It is ridiculous that we have to dump a couple of hundred bucks on our guns just to get them to where other manufacturer's guns are stock.

Like the 1911 grip angle and changeable grips not inserts and a lighter weight and a m&p width pistol and great trigger with a clean flowing design ? Get a sig p320 . I gave my apex'd m&p40 4.25" to a daughter after getting some trigger time behind a p320 and bought a for a p320 compact 40 . Not love but as close as a semi-auto can get

That new ruger weights 30oz , its 5.6" tall , not much of a carry gun . Maybe there shot at law enforcement or the military contract .

I guess I don't "love" pistols but I too have a Sig P320 Compact and "love" comes close. Sig Sauer got it perfect right out of the gate. That said, my EDC is a Shield9.

My Shield 9mm also gets more carry time than any other gun because I can pocket carry it. When I holster carry (more often in the winter months) it's either my modified M&P 9c or more recently the P320.

I'll have to talk to Dave about it - we belong to the same range and I've taken classes from him. However, I'm not jumping on the Ruger American bandwagon just yet:

Hunh. I have three M&P 9c's, two Shields, and two M&P 22 pistols....no accuracy issues....beyond the operator's skills. :(:D

I generally dump about $600.00 into each of my Compacts, but to be fair most of that cost is optic related:

That's why I really dig the SIG P320 - out of the box nothing really has to be done to the gun.

As popular as glock 19 is i think a smith version would sell well...but fullsize isnt all that big and compact is ver. Versatile..2 fi;ger grip for max concealability/tuckable/coat pocket pinky extension for full grip, plus 3 mag baseplate for glock 18 like capacity and concealment and of course fuilsize mags with x grip..

I'm not up on all the Glock number soup & sizes, but Cole Partnerships and Training, LLC facebook page says they'll be offering for sale what they call the M&P Hybrid which, if you have both a compact and a full size, the ability to run your full size slide on your compact frame. Suppose to be able to order it starting Jan 25th.

I wish I could be at the SHOT Show because we know the U.S. Army is accepting competitors for the Modular Handgun System and many manufacturers would like that contract, including Smith and Wesson / General Dynamics with a new version M&P that has been stated to be intended to be also for the civilian market. The accuracy requirments for the contract alone would seem to assure a noticable improvement on current generation M&Ps

I'd love a 4.25 with a compact grip length for more discreet carry option for tuckable and then use x grip and full-size mag for all else
