Was in a gun store this weekend and saw an M&P 9mm(109201). They wanted $620 for it. I was holding it and my wife says, "Well you know, they're kind of scarce right now. It won't be here tomorrow." I love my wife.;)

Still, that particular model has an MSRP of $569 so, I thought it was kind of high and passed on it.

Would you have bought it?

My opinion is that I think the current state of gun sales will go back to normal after some time. But, just in case take your wife out to dinner for a possible pistol purchase down the line

I would have passed as well.
This Panic Inflation is probably temporary.

That is a steep markup for that gun

I paid 525 and I even thought that was a little high as well

I think you made a wise choice....once the frenzy is over prices should be better. You probably made some good points for the future with your wife!

Pass. Another example is gunbroker.com where shields are selling for $650 to $800 and the MSRP is only $449.00.

I found mine for 409.99 at a local gun store. Knowing that they are not gouging their customers makes me committed to buying more from them down the road.

Pass, give it a little time and u can buy a .40 Shield plus the 9mm barrel for the conversion and still spend less money.

Definitely pass, that is way too much and clearly an attempt to take advantage of the current climate. Look online, I just bought one from sportsmans outdoor superstore for $469 out the door shipped 2 day fedex. They have them fairly often, if out of stock check back as they go in and out of stock.

I would have passed as well. A larger LGS at a show here in Des Moines just w/o weeks ago had M&P9 FS at a show special price of $499. Imagine that will get better for the next show here this weekend.

I would have passed also. I hate to see people taking advantage of other and would not go back to that location. Bought my M&P 40 FS four weeks ago $515 with taxes and two 40 round boxes of ammo. $31 in taxes in the peoples republic of MA.

The non-Cali compliant version is selling here for 499.00. The LGS has quite a few.

New LGS in Tallahassee, Fl has M&P's FS and compacts both 9mm and 40 for $490.

Do you have any idea what the SKU # is for either of the full size guns?

109200, 109000, 109201 and 109001 are the guns that are legal here in CA. I'd certainly buy one for that price.

Glad you didn't buy it.

That same gun in LE version is the 309201 which is the same gun with three mags instead of two.

All military or prior military qualify for first responder pricing from Bud's Police so your cost is $399 and includes free shipping. That's $221 LESS than the gun you were holding and includes an additional magazine.
S&W M&P9 9mm Fixed Sights 4 1/4" MS for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $399.00

If I were you I'd get on Bud's Police waiting list and they will email you when one comes in. Military service has its benefits. ;)

Not only would I have passed, I would not do any business with that store unless I absolutely had to.

glad you passed.....sadly someone will come behind you and pay scalpers prices for it....which reinforces the stores pricing....some years ago here we had a major power outage that lasted several days...in the dead of winter...a local, well established tru value hardware store had a lot of kerosene heaters in stock..they promptly doubled the price and sold quite a few if not all.....people remembered however and within a year this well established store was forced to close...lack of business.....another example of what goes around comes around
