Should I sell my M&P 15-22 ?

FROM PAST EXPERIENCE.

You can hold onto something for decades & never have a need for it UNTIL you get rid of it, then it becomes a MUST HAVE item. ;) If you could get a good price for it, perhaps selling it, or trading for something more useful might be a good idea. You sound a bit younger than many here, so it could be the first gun you regret selling, THERE WILL be more. :D

I never sold a gun I owned. Do you really need the money that bad?

I have.

If I couldn't hit with it, I got rid of it. If I had no use for it, same thing. Plain and simple. Actually, the only thing I ever sold to get cash for was a postban Bushmaster to fund Xmas in 09. And... well, it was a 2003 model postban with no frills. And.. well, I figured I could easily replace it with one I actually wanted down the line. Same thing with a 15-22. Not like selling off some heirloom shotgun or rifle. You can get one all day long. I'm on my 3rd Beretta 92. This one I won't sell off. But I guess my take is, its not a sin to sell a gun. You can definitely make mistakes, but if you don't really want it or can't hit anything with it, I say on to the next person. Walther P22 - buh bye. Did not replace with anything. Marlin .17HMR, buh bye, replaced with a CZ 455. Now if I sold my 686, well, it would come with a note to the buyer to immediately shoot me with it for selling it to them.

I definitely say hold on to it. Everyone needs a .22LR to plink or train with. And the 15/22 is one of the best choices for that purpose IMHO. It's a good all around rifle to hang on to. Plus guns are investments. If you need the cash one day, you've got an easy to move chunk of change you can cash in.

For the money you'd get for it why not keep it? Like someone stated, most people don't shoot all the firearms they own regularly. Some sit in my safe for a LONG time not being used and one day I get the itch to shoot it. That, and a 22LR rifle is just fun and is a good learner you may one day want to teach someone to shoot with. KEEP IT!
