hey guys. i found a 13-4 3 inch today priced at $350. i talked to the dealer and he agreed to trade for my 66-5(pre lock) 4inch plus give me $50. I bought the 66 new in 2001 and its in excellent condition.
the 13 has a spot of rust below the hammer but other than that the finish looks great. i did a quick examination and the cylinder does have a little fore/aft movement. barrel cylinder gap looked good and the gun doesnt appear to have been fired much by looking at the turn ring.
i already have a model 19-3 4 inch that i like better than the 66 and a 13-3 3 inch so my decision is purely about which of the revolvers, the 66-5 4 inch or the 13-4 3 inch is worth more. thanks for your advise!

I would just buy the 13 3 inch and keep the 66.

The obviouse answer is keep both.
You dont mention hoow they will be used.

The 3" 13 is better suited for CCW the 4" 66 for target use.
Stainless steel is a more durable finish,
Both are K magnums, do you prefer target sites or fixed as thats the biggest difference ?

thanks for the replies. i already own both. do you guys think the endshake is anything to worry about it has the same amount of play as my model 19 which shoots great.

Even I would trade a 66....well.... a dash 5 model 66, for a 3" 13-4.

The 13-4 is a superior revolver to a 66-5 in my opinion. Now, trade a 3" 66-2? No.

I would try to keep the 66 and buy the 13 if at all possible, as the 66-5 is superior to anything made today. Good luck! Regards 18DAI.

3" K-frames are getting harder to find and as you said - you already have a 4" 19-3. Sounds simple. Still a shame to trade the 66, but I am sure it will get a good home.

thanks for all your opinions. i'm going to sleep on it tonight. i guess i should just pay cash for the 13-4 and go from there.:)

If you could afford to just buy the 13 at $350, that would be the prefered course of action. That is a very good buy on a 3" gun. In 6 months that is what you will wish you had done.

If you cannot swing the purchase, or payments, then I would make the trade if you are wanting a concealed carry revolver. The 3" K frame will make a great carry gun. Put another few bucks with your $50 and order a Lobo Model 1 Pancake with Detail Boning, and the Optional inside Hammer Shield.

Dealers don't give guns away.

He already made a profit taking in the M13 , so he will basically be buying
YOUR gun for $50.

I paid about $320 OTD for this one last month. Finish isn't great, but it has one of the nicest actions in the safe.

If you can buy outright and keep the 66, do that. If not I'd do the trade, as it'll be much easier to find another 66 4" than a 13 3"...
