Should NIB S&Ws get Priority, when sent in for service?

I was just wondering what you guys think? I sent a NIB 340 PD "lemon" back to S&W on 12-13-10, and even sent a fax to the CEO, telling him my problems with this $800+ gun.
Well, I figured, I would just relax and wait..... Well its 1-7-11, and I still havent heard a word from S&W?.... Nothing...

This gun had a crooked barrel, the cylinder would fall off, when the ejector rod was pushed, and the trigger would lock up, and not release the firing pin.

Why dont NIB guns get Priority service?

When you go to the Bank , Grocery Store, Post Office, License Branch , or Donut Shop - it's pretty well know fact that you get in line and wait your turn.
I'm sure that S&W looks at all customers the same way, a NIB gun is no different than a tune-up on a 20 year old gun.
Why do you feel like you should cut in front of people that were ahead of you?
 
Well, if I was a first time buyer and it was my only gun, their service would really leave a bad taste in my mouth.
If you bought a new car, and immediately needed to return it for service, would you be happy, having it sit in the shop for a month, with no one working on it?

Uh........ Because it was never even fired.
I worked for a dealership for 25 years, and new cars always took priority, when it came to repairs.

I'd have to think that a brand new, warranty item should get attention first. I know if I had spent $800 on a gun, I'd expect it to work, and if there was an issue, I'd expect it to be handled fast.
 
I would be upset (as I know you are) if my new gun was broken but did you not call someone at S&W before you sent the gun in?
You sent the gun in 12 day before Christmas and 19 days before New Years.......................
Did someone @ S&W give you the impression that they would have your gun fixed right away?

The new car gig is not a good comparion, IMO

Yes I did call them. Why is it not a good comparison?
And also VM, what is your opinion on their LEO, 911 repair service? Why shouldnt they have to "wait in line"?

You have been a Member here for a long time and I know that you are not new to revolvers - I did not know that the gun had never been shot (from your first post).
This is what I read:

With these major problems that seem pretty obvious, why did you walk out of the store with the gun - didn't you take it out of the box and look at it?

I purchased 2 guns at the same time. A 340PD , and an M&P 340. I guess I was in kind of a hurry, and didnt thoroughly inspect the 340PD. The funny thing was... The M&P 340, was near perfect, out of the box.
I just dont understand, how the quality could be that far off on 2 brand new guns?

Was this gun shipped with a fired/spent casing? It couldn't and would not have been fired at the plant with the issues listed in the opening thread. Yes, they were closed for the Holiday, and must have quite a bit of backlog. If you want to use the new car analogy- would a new car have test miles on the odometer if the crankshaft was bent, and the camshaft was falling out, and the gas pedal locking up ?????????????????????? 26
 
allglock, to show I am a fair and balanced member here, I will say in your defence, I too have left the LGS, in a hurry and excited when I bought a new Taurus once. I am a Engineer and Machinist, when I got to the range, I then relized how poorly this gun was machined and how downright dangerous the lock up was. The end of the barrel looked like it was cut off with a hack saw. Imagine how "I" felt. Bring it back you say, not at this shop...ALL SALES FINAL!!!!! Good Luck, S&W will make it right I'm sure, 26

I have seen far worse on "new" cars................ Anything is possible.............

Edited to say: This gun also had more problems that I forgot to mention!
The drag line was not anywhere near center in the cylinder notches, and the yoke was all buggered up where the yoke screw goes into it! (the yoke screw was not even lined up with the cutout in the yoke)?? How could they have turned out such a misfit of a gun? I wish I had taken pictures, and posted them on the forum, but I was so mad at the time, I just wanted to get it sent back, and "hopefully" replaced before Christmas, as it was a Christmas present to myself.....

Sure, every manufacturer makes a lemon now and then. Evidently, some manufacturers own an orchard.

I guess non traditionalists are willing to pay more and accept less. Regards 18DAI.

It doesn't matter the circumsatances, new, old, only, many, et al.
