Show Me Some 2 1/2"-3" MOD66s & 686s

Well the CS-1/686 came in last Wednesday..
I'm realy pleased with the revolver other than it has .006" of end shake, I'll be shimming it..
Also the Pachmayr Grip didn't fit together very well & I was Lucky to find a replacement @ The Gunshow without a grip screw for $5 that's exactly the factory grip..
The 3" barrel seems to be very handy & the revolver is growing on me badly..
Here's an Attempt of a Pic with a tube light over it. Still Need a New Camera..
Also the Milt Sparks PMK Holster fits this revolver better than any I've ever seen..

This is my 686 2 1/2" bbl 6 shot. It shots like a dream. They had to special order it since not too many people want a 686 snub-nose I guess...

Hi everybody. I am new here. Love the forum and this thread in particular ?
After reading your guys posts and looking at gorgeous little wheelers for awhile I've started dreaming about getting a new old stock M66 PC in 3" bbl.
I found one on the net and after 2+ weeks of delivery + waiting time I've got one in my hands finally on Sat. It cost me a fortune for a gun which some wouldn't even consider buying for they say it's prone to the cone cracking…or too small for a magnum. This all came from a 629 fan who likes it only in long barrels too. I had no chance to try a 66 or any other k-frame for this matter and was a little worried about the feel. I am glad to report that after shooting it today I am as HAPPY as I could be with a new family member ?.
50 rounds of AE 38sp 130 gr FMJ and another 50 rounds of AE 357 mag, JSP, 158 gr, (1240 fps) were gone through way too fast for me to even start enjoying it fully. Somehow I liked the magnums over specials today. This AE 357 mag is a target ammo and I will have to try other stuff too. Do you guys think I am OK for primarily magnum loads or should I keep it to a reasonable minimum? I read that in this model I should stick to 158 gr bullets which is fine with me.
Also, surprisingly, I liked 357 mags in 3" better than 44 mags in 4" 629. Maybe this is due to carry comp which I never experienced before. Or was this AE a low recoil ammo? Muzzle energy listed is about 590, if I remember it correctly. So it is definitely less than 44 mag, but seems typical for a 357, right? And the 3" K-frame is no 4" N-frame with regard to the mass. All in all I am extremely happy with the gun ?
I've cleaned it afterwards and now its all clean and "new" again ?
It joins the good family of Ruger, Walter and Kimber pistols in 22lr to 45acp.
Here is the pic of the gun taken by the dealer. Hopefully I will post a few more soon.

My 686-3 I picked up Thursday.
I changed out the combats for these grips. They feel the best.
Hi Nframe,
What are those grips? I really like them!

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the cs-1 model? Also, is there any advantage to having a 3" mod.66 over a 3" mod. 686. I do like the looks of the 66 better, but because they are hard to come by, I guess I have to go for the 686, if there is no real advantage. Any information would be greatly apprciated.

The CS-1 model was a special run of 3" and 4" barreled 686's for the US Customs Service in the late 1980's. Features differing from the regular 686 include a bead-blast finish, a narrower (1/10" vs 1/8" I think) pinned black front sight, and round butt grip frame.

Now with Hogue grips after range trip with my favorite Zed holster
