Show-N-Tell - The N Frames that You Shoot

I have a couple I shoot all the time: Here are 6 of my favorites...

1. a RM I rescued....most accurate .357 I have ever owned!

2. a 629 that was 3" from Horton, but modified for carry!

3. a fabulous pin gun and target revolver!

4. A reliable deer-getter!

5. a great carry gun:

6. My newest Pin Gun, but remarkably accurate for other matches....

1979 29-2

Here is my vintage 29. Bought in 1979 new. 8 3/8 with all target gear. When purchased it was a blued model. After a few years of holster wear I took it to Mag Na Port here in Michigan. Had them do the two ports and then their SS Metalife which is a hard chrome process with a brushed finish. In my late 60's now and the eyes are not what they used to be. Took the 29 to my smith and he drilled the top strap for scope and red dot mounts. I put on it a Trijicon dual illumination RMR with green triangle. I have Deer hunted in Southern Michigan for over 30 years with it. Only shotgon, muzzle loaders and handguns were permitted in the Southern zone until recently. No we can use rifles with straight walled cartridges. I have taken many Deer with this beautiful shooting revolver.

I like those moon clip holders.. Never seen anything like that before.

Stripper clips Iggy. Great to see you are still around. Miss the "old days" on the 1911 DW Forum.

Here is a Triple Lock that shipped in 1917. I am currently working on developing the optimal load for this one.

My very first firearm purchase. Excuse the poor photo. Model 27-2 P&R 8-3/8" shipped from S&W in 1974. Bought NIB from a co-worker at Oshman's Sporting Goods. He had purchased it, along with some other firearms that were put on clearance, following the Oshman's acquisition of United Sporting Goods in 1977. I replaced the original magna grips with factory target grips. No other modifications.

Years ago I was target shooting with friends on national forest land back when that was still allowed in Kalifornia. We had been shooting for a little while when a forest ranger pulled up, got out, and leaned up against his truck to observe what we were doing. During a cease-fire, I picked up a spent 12 gauge shotgun shell and set it on top of a rock about 10 yards away. My best friend laughed and said, "If you hit that, I'll buy you dinner at Five Crowns!" (a 5 star steak restaurant). I took a stance, aimed my 27 loaded with full power magnum loads, cocked the hammer and pulled the trigger. The shotshell disappeared in a puff of dust. The ranger never said a word to us, got back in his truck and drove away.

29-2 Pinned and Recessed

I fell in love with this one the minute I saw it. It appeared to have been unfired when I purchased it for $850 about two years ago. I would have paid more.

I had to learn how to fire it without banging my knuckles on the trigger guard. If anyone has recommendation for a shoulder holster maker, please speak up.

Take a look above the stripper clips.. There's two leather moon clip holders.

I've become a moon clip fan and those look plumb interesting.

Iggy
They look like the one made by Simply Rugged Holsters.I
Have one and it works great.

If you buy a pair of Ahrend's Retro-Target stocks, you will stop banging your knuckles….As for the shoulder holster, I use a Galco Leather Shoulder holster with a spring-steel access at the trigger guard…..just pull down and forward, and the gun is out….VERY useful for my 29-2 with 8 3/8" barrel.

My most heavily shot revolver these days. A Frank Glen warmed over model 28-2. It is a workhorse. It will be rewarded soon with a fancy old school lawman's rig from a member here. It was a fairly cheap Gunshop rescue that I cherish. Plus, it allows my investment grade stuff to stay pristine.

I love all of these pictures threads! Here is my contribution, my N prefix 28-2. Easily my favorite gun ever and it goes to the range with me whenever I go.

I also have a 2nd model 455, just don't have a good picture of it yet, and coming soon will be a pre 28 Highway Patrolman, just waiting on the FFLs to sort out shipping info.

One of my favorite N frames is a 625-4 that started life with a 5" full underlugg barrel. I had LSG Gunsmithing install a 4" Mountain Gun barrel, then beadblast the whole works.

The stocks are by Dick Thompson, and are in Bastogne walnut. I have to admit though that most times it wears Hogue rubbers to go out shooting.

The leather is by our own forum favorite keith44spl. He sure can scratch up some leather!

Strumpet, I NEVER get tired of looking at your RM! To me it has class and character and I'd rather have it than all the others!
