Thank you for looking.

Well, I don't think that I've shown my recently aquired 640-1 in its new "Eagle" brand "Secret Service" style rosewood stocks on this thread. I had read mixed reviews on these, and when I saw the condition of the used 640-1 that I recently bought as a result of JohnRippert's thread, and saw a set on eBay for less than retail, I thought this would be a good chance to give them a try. Anything would have been better than the extremely worn rubber stocks that came on the gun. I was very pleased:

The only regret I have is that there were two sets advertised, and I only ordered one, and by the time I got them and saw how nice they were, the other set had sold. I would buy them again.

Just noticed that M1A in the post just above has the same ones on his J frame!! For some reason I don't see that many of them on posts here.

Best Regards, Les

I like the Eagle grips. They are close by, and I just bop over and he puts them on for me. Nice guy.
How do you like mags thru the snubby?
Sent you a PM.

Wow, that is cool...being able to stop by the shop and have them put on!!! Yes, I had seen them advertised forever, but put off actually trying a set. I saw some on eBay just at the right time, as I was getting this revolver. Glad I did, now I can see the quality.

Well, this 640-1 is twice the weight of my 340 PD, so the recoil is not as brutal. In my 340, I like to carry the 135 gr Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel .357 magnum. It is specifically loaded for these little guns, and I find that there is significantly less recoil than with the full house loads and 158 gr bullets.

So, from this heavier gun it is much milder.

Problem is, I have not been able to find the round offered for a couple of years!!! And when it was, it was very expensive. I did find the 38 +P version at a very attractibpve price, and stocked up on those as a fail safe. Also stocked up on the bullets themselves the last time that Midway had them in stock, so I can always load some of my own.

Short answer, got to find a load that is reasonable, or it is still unpleasant even with the greater mass.

Best Regards, Les

Altamonts on my 63

I really like the look and feel of this grip but the only issue I had was that the top part of the grip is thicker on the speed loader side than the right side. I didn't want to file and sand these nice looking grips so I modified one of my speed loaders to clear the grip.

Sambar Stags on 442 from last week end of walking the local gun show. Found the grips on a table. Then found the NIB PC 442, purchased and back to the other table for the Stags. Proud purchase for the new J frame

Very nice!! Those are some great grips there. I keep thinking about some stags. I have several sets of ivory, but still have to get around to some stags. They are getting as expensive as ivory was a couple of years ago.

Best Regards, Les

These are a set of Thailand made grips on my 351. The fit was horrible when I first got them but after a few hours of sanding them down and then a few coats of tru-oil, I think they look and feel great now.
