Show Us Your K-32/Model 16s

Beautiful K32's!!

This post will be a work-in-progress, until I find all the pictures.

These next two revolvers are pre-WW2 early K-32's, built and shipped as a pair to the Springfield ( not Longmeadow) PD.

Till later, Mike Priwer

What an impressive collection! The two above are right up my alley! :D

My turn, this came from a neighbor and close friend of my Dad. He shot bullseye league with it for years, back in the day. The magnas on it didn't match, so I put these targets on it. My Dad said he had a set of thumb rest targets on it years ago, and probably thought I'd rather like the Smith grips.

As a side note, these old unrelieved K frame targets have to be some of the best feeling grips Smith ever made for smaller hands. After I bought these I came across a pair of smooth presentation unrelieved K targets at a gun show. I put them on my K-38, even though the grips on it match. Just have to be very careful dumping brass.

In 1988 we were in Livingston, MT and I visited gunwriter Mike Venturino's place. I had a nickel Colt SAA .45 and a Colt New Service Target model with me. Because I had the N.S. .44 Russian/Spl, he pulled out his Triplelock Target Model to show me. Then he showed me his Model 16 .32. Both guns I had previously saw and read about and recognized instantly. there were Sharps rifles all over the place but that's another story.

You guys are killing me! Thanks!

I have a non model marked 4 screw K22 I got from my grandfather. I have always had this pipe dream to assemble the same vintage in the complimentary calibers- non model marked 4 crews- in the K32 and K 38. I rarely see any K32's, and they're either not for sale or don't fiy that narrow timeframe. But the hunt is what makes it fun right? :)

No, as I said before, it was modified. The Patridge front sight was cut off and the ramp Baughman was installed. When I got it, the muzzle and part of the barrel were heavily corroded and the hammer and trigger were rusted. Bob Cogan straightened it all out.

Here is a Pre War K .32 made from a Pre War M&P Target. The barrel is factory, not sure about the cylinder. The frame letters to a M&P target. Not sure when it was made or for whom. Larry

Well, I'm feeling somewhat vindicated. Back when I had my faux Model 16-3 (re-)created, I got a lot of negative comments from a few purists here. I tried to make it clear that this was meant to be an homage and I was not trying to fool anyone, but still got some grumbling. I'm gratified with thenumber of likes I got when I posted it here, and will state once again that for someone more interested in having a nice K32 for shooting than in getting a second mortgage to get a safe queen, this wasn't a bad way to go. And the best part is, I've got it and it works exactly as planned!

Hey Stu, any regrets selling that 32 Combat Masterpiece (w/Patridge sight)? Nice.

No Tom, no regrets at all. It sold for well into 5 figures and sure opened up possibilities for my collecting. I had half a dozen other .32 S&W Long revolvers but eventually they all went away and I
don't shoot that caliber anymore.

This is my Model 16-3. I had placed an order and paid in full with a company that was supposed to start building brand new reproduction Merwin Hulberts. When that venture failed and went under, I was amazed to get a full refund and this is what i spent the money on.

This is my Model 16-4 in .32 H&R Magnum, flanked by its brothers in .22LR and .38 Special.

I don't know of any S&Ws in .32 other than the Model 16-4 with an 8-3/8" barrel, so I had Andy Horvath build this one for me in .327 Federal Magnum. It's made from a 14-4 frame with a rebored Model 17 barrel. The seldom-seen 8-3/8" K32

Prewar Targets in .32 S&W Long are very few and very far between, but .32-20s were made in appreciable numbers. This is one .32-20 that I have, again flanked by its .22 and .38 siblings.

Back in January I missed out on acquiring a fixed sight prewar M&P in .32 S&W Long. To console myself I bought this very nice M&P in .32-20. My .32 M&P consolation prize

I have an 18-3, 17-3, 1950 vintage K-22 and a 14-3 on the way. I started looking for a 16 or pre model number K-32 about 15 years ago. Until then I had no idea that only around 3,600 of them were shipped between 1946 and the mid 70's. When a local gun store bought a large collection about 10 years ago there was a very nice 16-3 with original magnas and a target hammer and trigger. Asking price was $2,200. I reasonable price then. It would be a bargain now at that price.
