Show us your nasty Hat!

I can't show mine as it was blown off my head when brush hogging and got chewed up. It was the last decent present my work gave me too.
I just got an NRA cap in the mail for reupping early. I noticed it was made in China though and not sure I even want to wear it now.

My favorite hat was another very old black stetson. I think I bought it in 1962 in Roswell New Mexico. Some very old man ran some type of old mens wear store I think. He looked close to 80 at the time. He dug around for awhile and pulled out a stetson box with a good 1/16th of a inch dust on the box. I bet that stetson was from anywhere between 1920 to 1940! It was new in the box and was the style of old timey pictures you see from the early 1900`s. The crown and brim werent as big as the tom mix. I loved that hat! It wasnt a cheap grade either. Some years later I made the mistake of leaving it out in my house. I had two dogs in the house and when I came home it looked more like a welders beenie! Somewhere I do have a picture of me standing in front of the OK Corral in Tomestone wearing it. That was my favorite of all them. Right now I also own a "Charlie One Horse" Stetson Identical to the one I have seen Don Williams wear on his albums. However I have a 1/2" tare in the brim but I wont throw it out. I bought that one in the late 80`s in Virginia city Nev. I also own a fancy straw version of it, also a Charlie One Horse made by stetson.

My summer hat and my winter hat. I wore a ball cap until I was 50. That's when I got some serious skin cancer on my face so went to some wider brims. I have about a dozen hats but these are broke in and the ones that get worn the most.

My current yardwork hat. At one time it was a uniform olive color. Now it's... not. It was still damp from this morning and felt disgusting to pick up, and I'm the one who wears it.

Now thats what I'm Talking about! lol

Been wearing baseball style caps for years. Gotta keep the bald spot covered. Got one from the chevy dealer when I bought my truck. That was my walking around town hat. Not it's the one I wear when bushogging the grass and keeps the hearing protectors on my head. I'm not partial as to whose hat I'll wear. Kubota, O'reily auto parts, anywhere they are free. Frank

I didn't see any real nasty hat's here, I had a real nasty hat but my wife tossed it out, the S&W hat is getting there, give it another 10 years and it will be nasty.:)

There've been a few more since this picture. A few on the shelf too. Can't understand why this closet doesn't smell too nice.

I don't use my dishwasher. I would throw it in the sink, a little Dawn, a vigorous scrubbing with the vegetable brush, rinse thoroughly, hang from a coat hanger on the shower head and it will be good to go.

It's a S&W hat. Be kind to it!

Don't have a bald spot. I got a Ford hat when I bought my F-150 in '07. That's my current nasty walking around hat. It just feels comfortable. Real faded from a lot of washing.

Enjoyed the topic here. Baseball hat for me for many years. I have seen some cool looking wide brim hats on you folks. Any suggestions on a "newbee" looking for a wide brim hat to keep the sun baking my back of the neck? I like the straw hats as they look like they are cool (temp wise) to wear and not heavy. With ball caps when it is hot I wear a headband made with a kerchief rolled up or a dew rag under my ball cap. Keeps my sweat from dripping off the bill which is annoying to me.

You may have to search but Dorfman Pacific has one with a sturdy duck brim and good ventilation in the crown. 20 bucks a few years ago at Sportsman Paradise. I take it in the shower and use the wife's nylon body pad on it occasionally. (Shhh...)

This is a "Headsweats Running Cap" like the one I wear on my daily runs. It works as advertised and soaks gallons of wet from my head every outing. And yes... it does get "nasty" if I don't remember to wash it regularly.

A really great product and nobody can miss me when I'm out on the road.

Hands Down, the best hat is the Tilley!
Home page

They are a bit pricey until you figure in their lifetime guarantee. You can wear a Tilley for 20 years and when it is frayed, send it to them and they will replace it just for the shipping. They will even return your old hat. They will even replace a lost one at half price for the first 2 years. This is operated on the honor system. They encourage you to use this guarantee on their Facebook page.

When you buy a Tilley it is like joining an elite group, like a Harley owner or a S&W owner. Other Tilley owners recognize you and many will compliment you on your taste in hats.

Cartman is wearing one of mine in my earlier post in this thread.

I've worn my Pendleton Outback in cool or cold weather for around 25 years. It's a little droopy, but going strong. I don't think I could kill it if I tried.

Just bought a ventilated-crown boonie hat with a sweat-wicking inside band for hot weather. I expect it'll get pretty smelly and need washing, but at my age I'm unlikely to wear out either hat.
