SHTF Holster for Shield

I looked at the Foxx holster too, it had mixed reviews. The SHTF holster, even though it only had 5 reviews on Amazon, they were all great. I do like the setup on the Hidden Hybrid that allows you to use either the clips or put your belt through the holster itself. Well, I'm just gonna wait to receive the SHTF holster and I'll update this thread with my thoughts on it. I just wish I could remember who I got this holster that is cracking from so I can get them to warranty it, but I lost all the information for it and there's no markings on the holster. Too bad Kydex isn't a good material to do repairs on.

I have a SHTF holster. I have no issues with the holster except the way the leather is cut. One place it is kind of square and it pokes me in the side and is uncomfortable. I would round it off except I sold the gun I got the holster for and the holster is going with the gun.

I'll have to check that out once I get it. Where exactly was this piece?

I had a SHTF Kydex/leather holster for my Bodyguard. Contour of the leather didn't suit me too well either but some trimming with an X-acto and some burnishing with a few drops of water and a Dremel tool and it fit perfectly. A little Loc-tite on the screws is needed as well, as with every holster.

I picked up a tube of blue loctite for that reason, the screws kept coming loose on my current rig, loctite made short work of that. I guess it'll be trial and error if it doesn't fit just right when I get it. Pissed at myself for losing my dremel kit somewhere, luckily it was a cheap one from Harbor Freight. Where did you have to make adjustments to the leather on your holster?

I have a holster similar to SHTF (AlienGear) for my shield and I prefer the Hidden Hybrid design..
Check out these.
Hidden Hybrid Holsters

Wow man. Thanks for the website. I've been looking and asking my cop buddies awhile for a website that has the hybrid type holster. I just ordered 2 holsters one for my shield and one for my full size with a tlr-3. Thanks again.

I've been looking at holsters for the shield myself - I'm no flatbelly so no appendix carry, which like a lot of people has me looking at 4-5 o'clock carry with IWB. The thing that sticks out to me on all the hybrid IWB's is that with the two belt clips, whether metal or polymer or whatever, they just scream "weapon here" to me when tucked, regardless of whether they print or not.

I've seen a few that only utilize one clip, one even that mimics a phone style clip, but without the phone attached, etc - but I'm not sure if that is the answer or not. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it. But I am leaning toward a single clip design like a Sparks Heritage or Exec Special, or a close together double snap design like a Summer Special or similar.

What I do is make sure I get the flatter style metal clips, then I slide the clip over the pants, but under the belt. That way only the bottom of the clip shows and it's not nearly as obvious. I've not had anyone say anything to me while tucking using the metal clips under my belt.

Just another option to try if you want.

Got my holster today. Will post pics and give my thoughts on it later tonight. All I can say so far is I can't find anything I dislike about it other than the clips are a little sharp, but more on that later.

It is at the top of the holster. Pic attached.

No, it's at the bottom right where the top side of the slide would be.

Ok, first thoughts when I pulled it out of the box and tried it on is the leather is really stiff. I know it takes time to break in and conform to your body, so I started wearing it around and it's already starting to feel better. The clips are very strong but a little sharp, nothing a file can't take care of. There are three adjustment holes to use for ride height and cant. They use allen head screws and supply the allen wrench. Retention is awesome, sooooo much more retention than my broken holster ever had. Even though the insert that came with the holster says that the kydex can be a bit loose until you put it on, I can put my gun in it fully loaded and hold it upside down and it will not fall out. I'm not used to having alot of retention so it's going to take some getting used to with draws. Build quality is outstanding. It feels like a quality piece of kit. I don't know if the threading is better than having full rivets, but they explain that it's there in case a rivet fails, the threading will not fail. All in all, for the price and not being able to try it before I bought it, I am very pleased with this holster and would highly recommend it. I'm sure it will become even more comfortable with time. Here's some pics for your viewing pleasure.
