I have a Model 13 and Model 65 with screws a bit chewed up. SW is sending me 3 screws for each. I do not know if they will come marked or all in a bag. Which screw goes where? These are older guns so I do not think the plunger type screw is used. Thanks.

Side Plate Screws

Looking at your revolvers' sideplates, with the barrel facing to the right.
The smallest (shorter) flat head screw is the work screw and it goes in the upper left. The other two screws are interchangeable at first. However, the yoke screw, which goes farthest to the right must be fitted to the yoke. The other screw just screws in. Your guns are old enough, the yoke screw will not be special with the plunger.

Hope this helps

On a pre-spring loaded plunger three screw gun, two of the screws are rounded fillister heads (the ones located slightly behind the trigger guard & above the trigger area) whereas one is a flat slightly thinner fillister head (under the grips). The rounded fillister head screws have pilot points.

Prior to S&W changing over to the spring loaded plunger in that location, the lower forward screw (the one above the trigger area) was fitted. It performed three jobs:

Retained the yoke/cylinder assembly.
Controlled yoke fore-aft travel or shake.
Controlled yoke rotation tension.

Since you have the original buggered screw from that location, you need only make sure that the new screw's length is identical to the screw you are replacing (provided the three items listed above are satisfactory).

If your revolver has yoke shake, the yoke/screw interface will need to be fitted to bring the shake into specification.
