Sig 1911 question

I was talking to an acquaintance yesterday and he said that Sig was getting out of the 1911 business. He said that they were discontinuing the 1911 line and wouldn't be making any more 1911 style pistols. I find that hard to believe. Has anyone else heard this unverified rumor????

Don't know an answer BUT there's an awful lot of competition out there that's probably several hundred dollars less that their price.
An update - the Sig site has only 4 1911 offerings right now.

Sig spends a LOT of time coming up with gimmicky new model variations and dropping older designs without any support... but they make a nice 1911... sad if they dump it, but not surprising.

Not good pics but my Sig 1911 shoots better than any other that I have fired as of yet. Have not fired my Gold Cup Trophy yet? Bob
