1996 production plain Jane 220.
Made in Germany, gray box, rails look new wasn't fired or carried much.
Bought from a fellow shooting club member for $675 including 17 mags.
I always regretted selling my 220 in a downsizing years ago.

17 mags plus pistol for $675, that's an awesome deal! I need to check.the classifieds more often. My LGS has one that's like new but he wants $700 with two mags and box. Congrats, while I've owned a number of Sig's, I've never had a p220.

Smoking deal for a classic Sig P-220 especially with that number of mags. Classic Sig is like owning a classic S&W and Colt especially if W German.

I have read many times certain opinions that the 220 was superior to the 226.
Is that an accurate assessment?
Nice score OP!

Both are excellent pistols. Both have the same basic design. I don't have a P226, but I've shot them a number of times. I do own a P229 and a P6. They are all great guns in their own right. The P220 is my favorite Sig only because I have an affinity for 45acp.

I Bought my first 220 in the later 80's. then in the early 90's a 220 that was like new. about 3 months later a 245 was sitting in the used case, so I took it home.

I think the 245 is the most misunderstood Sig of all! People want a 220 in 45 and would buy a 220 compact, buy it doesn't say 220 so they don't even look at them. When I bought mine it was like new and 1/3 the going price of a 220 and about 1/4 of the price of the 220 compact when they hit the used market!

My oldest 220 is the most worn and the most accurate. The newer 220 and the 245 shoot about the same size groups (1.5" @ 25 yards with cast and 1-1.25 with good SD ammo)

Congrats on your Sig P-220. You got a fantastic deal. The classic Sigs and especially the German made one's are just great pistols. I'm sure you will really enjoy it.

I had a very nice nickel 220 that had been Texas DPS. I have small hands and it was big for me and I decided I wanted to concentrate my .45 activity on the 1911. I sold it to a friend who does my handyman work for me.

It was an accurate gun and fed my lead reloads perfectly. I also have a 228 and 229 and they are both very reliable.

I like Colt 1911 .45s, but had to make an exception with a Sig P220 I bought about twenty years ago. I generally shoot only cast bullets in handguns. I've never done a side-by-side comparison, but I'm pretty sure my P220 will outshoot my 70 Series Colt Gold Cup. I could easily be talked into another P220.

Yup,

The p245 and p220 Compact SAS are hard to beat.

I'm not up on Sigs and have only two that I have had for a while, a 9mm and a .45 ACP. I had to look just now - both indicate German-made on the slides. What's the real story on these as opposed to Sigs made elsewhere (wherever that is)? Anything to that or is it an Internet tale of dubious worth?

I haven't checked the price of magazines lately but it sounds like you might have upwards of $500 worth of magazines alone.

Retail price on genuine (new) SIG magazines for the P series guns are running in the $50 range, if you can find them.

Left the 1911 in my past when I got a W German 220 in 1989..... it will shoot cloverleafs at 50ft.......... about 3 or 4 years later I got my first 245 to replace my S&W 4516 to meet my concealed carry .45 needs......

DA/SA decocker only, alloy frame, 8+1....... IMO it's perfect for civilian concealed carry.

Did the same for my German 220 and 226. Bought American versions of each for shooting.

I can't quite put my finger on as to why I want to baby my German models. They give me that same warm feeling like a Colt 1911.

I love the .45acp and am generally a 1911 guy. But I do like my P220. Its about the only DA/SA .45 I've ever liked. Never could warm up to other brands.
Actually, I have a great fondness for Sigs in general. I also have a P226, P228 and a P239.
