I needed a small pocket sized pistol for the occasions when concealment is paramount. The gun must be all metal and an auto that is reliable yet easy to shoot well. The SIG P238 was the obvious answer.

It's got the g-10 grips with a 7 round mag. It's a remarkable little pistol in terms of size and weight. It's shorter in length than my smart phone. So far I like it a lot.

Anyone have experience with this gun? I'm not thrilled about the stainless slide riding on he aluminum frame. I'm keeping the rails well greased.

Any tips or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

I like mine alot, for what it is. Had it for 2 years and put about 1200 rounds through it, between my husband and I. Never a single failure with many brands of ammo. It's my only .380, so it annoys me to stock a caliber for a single gun, but it's such a good shooter, that I put up with it.
The Hogue rubber grips are my preference.

Rented a P238 and a G42 for a side by side comparison at a local range and put a box of Remington green ammo through each. The Sig felt better in the hand and was slightly heavier, but I put more through the center at 7 yds with the Glock. Had a few FTFs with the Sig because my thumb rode on the slide a few times so I decided that although the P328 is a great pistol, it doesn't fit my long fingers. The G42 was perfect.

So I bought a Bersa Thunder 380. Cost $255 and I shot it as well as the P238. Also thought that if I ever did have to shoot a BG, I would rather turn over an el-cheapo firearm over to the police for who knows how long, maybe forever, instead of an expensive one.

short story , was looking at a property several yrs ago , out in the country . I knocked on the door , the wife invites me in , husband is standing in the corner with his back to me . As I walk in I see , what looks like a 357 magnum revolver sitting on top of the water heater . I asked , " is that a K frame smith " ? NO answer . I asked several more times --NO answer .
Now I'm thinking , oh great I brought a pocket knife to a gun fight . The wife finally responds something to the effect it was shooting snakes . Long story short on the way back home I stopped into a local gun store and bought a sig P238 . That was several yrs ago and I still have the sig , but I passed on the property . It has been very reliable and very accurate . What more can a guy ask ?

I carry mine frequently; sometimes pocket, sometimes IWB. Shot about 500 rounds. It has worked flawlessly. It's a little small for my hands but I make do because it is so comfortable to carry. I'm a big 1911 fan so it was the logical choice.

They are both great little pistols, but for the very minor size difference, I prefer the P938 over the P238.
I just prefer 9mm over .380.

I'm hoping that since SIG discontinued the P232, that they'll come out with a double action version of the P238 or P938 with a decocker. Don't want a single action.
