Sight removal on an M&P

I've seen the threads stripped on their pushers before as well.

Usually happens when one doesn't know enough to lube the threads.. no lube creates heat, resulting in thread failure.. or again, over using the tool as designed. If it happens to the MGW, it happens to others under the same conditions..

Only a single experience for me when I wanted to install Truglo TFO sights on my 40c. I took it to the local GT Distributors, and they installed the new sights for me for $20.00 (2 day turnaround time). If you are a LEO, I think you can call ahead and they can do the installation while you wait.

Regards,

Dave

Yep. That is true for just about any mechanical device.

Thanks to everybody for the detailed info. MUCH appreciated! I now feel
"well educated" on this.... I just don't like screwing stuff up.... no
sense in re-inventing the wheel, etc. when others have been there
before. I have a couple of M&P's which I am very happy with, but
want to add night sights, etc.

Thanks and Regards..........

Mods, please delete if possible. I have no idea where the original post came from.

Rear sight was not an issue for me, but the front sight was a PAIN!!!! I used a sight pusher on both, but I felt like the front sight was going to disintegrate.

Cliff:

I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to say.

Dave
Dave, I don't either. I have no recollection of that entire post. I know I have no comments to the quotes either. I have no idea where that came from.

I'll try to delete it or a mod can do it for me.

Interesting. I've changed a number of front sights with absolutely no drama. Some of the rear sights have been pretty tight, but again, not a real issue. Were you removing from left to right?

Glad you're okay... I was thinking you were having a stroke there for a second.

I was wondering if Alzheimer's was making a visit.[emoji33]

If anyone can explain where that came from I'd be interested in hearing it.

Were you browsing on a cell phone or tablet? It's possible you accidentally hit the speech-to-text function, and it posted some mish-mash of stuff it thought it heard. In other words, maybe you buttdialed the forum.

It was on my phone. That's the only explanation I could come up with. Butt dialing a forum, who would have thunk it.
