took my two friends to the range today and brought the sigma
one has been before and rented a walther 45 of some kind
the other is an intern at my company from austria and wanted to try a glock
being a nice guy i rented him a glock 17

we rented the guns and i brought my sigma in and we shot it first, each putting 2 mags through it
then the intern said, "enough junk, lets shoot the glock" in a joking manner.
well we took the glock out and put two mags each through it and i must say, i was dissappointed
then we shot the walther, (which i was actually very impressed with)
after this, i went to the next lane with the intern (he had never shot before today) and did about 4 more mags each of my 9mm Sigma
he kept switching back and forth from sigma to glock

when we were checking out and packing up, i asked which gun he preferred and he said that my sigma was the most fun to shoot, then the walther, and that he didnt like the glock at all
i have to agree.
the magazine feels rubbery and flimsy
the fit and finish was awful
there were huge gaps at the base plate of the mag
the trigger was actually pretty heavy for what i would have expected

i had never before shot a glock and unless its someone elses gun and an emergency, i probably wont ever again, i was simply un-impressed 100%

thought you guys would like that story
especially how an austrian said that the american gun was better than the famous glock
he also had no idea that the sigma was one of the cheaper guns you can buy and that the glock was around 3x the price

i think that the $5 rental fee was worth that haha

revision:
the 45 my buddy got was acutally a SIG P229 not a walther as i thought

I won't knock anybodys gun, but I like shooting the sigma better than the glock too.

The ergos on the sigma are really good!

i have the 9 & just got the 40 the other day, could not be any happier with them, looking forward to alot of shooting with the 40 tomorrow.this 100 degree heat is cutting into my shooting time.i am just thankful i have somewhere to shoot tho, ticks, chiggers, mosquitos & all...

I had a similar experience. My dad, my grandfather and I had gone to our local range on fathers day to do some shooting. I had just picked up the sigma the day before and both my dad and my grandfather didn't like the way the trigger felt. So we went to the range and brought the sigma, a ruger p89, a ruger lcr, and a kahr cw9. At the end of the day not only did we all like the way the sigma shot but we all actually shot it much better than the other guns. The competition wasn't all that stiff but we were all pleasantly surprised. IMHO this gun's hard to beat for the money.

I shot a glock 40 before i purchased my sigma and was not impressed with it at all. it didnt even feel good in my hand but hey i rented it so i shot it. about a week later sigmas went on sale at my LGS i went in to check them out and the sigma felt great in my hand so i bought it, and i'm glad i did. the only other gun i held that felt great was the M&P 9mm.

I've owned a Sigma 40ve for a few years now. It is a good sd gun. There are better target guns out there, but that isn't what the Sigma was designed for. It isn't the best concealed carry gun because of it's size, but for an open carry gun or a home defense gun it is perfect. The 12 lbs. trigger pull is one of the safety features that I like in the gun, even though it does make it more difficult to shoot at the range if you are intending to put a few hundred rounds down range.

I carry a Glock 27 because of it's size and reliability. I keep a Glock 21 in my nightstand, but I would not feel any less protected if the Sigma was there instead of the Glock. Now I did just buy an M&P 40 pro. The Sigma has been bumped further down the list of most perfered gun in my safe, but it still is a viable defense pistol in my opinion.
