i finally got to check out a friend's m/p .40 today.i couldn't belive how similiar it is to my sw40g.he was praising the trigger action .i was allowed me to dry fire the weapon and it seems exactly like my sigma's after i have polished and removed 2 springs.i guess my question is,are the triggers in the sigma and m/p the same design? if so,a person could really do some fine tuning on the m/p trigger.if what i did in about 20 minutes to my sigma made such a difference, imagine what it would do to a m/p? i had my doubts after first getting the sigma i have now but really have fallen in love with this little jewel.i also own 3 glock .40 cals but i don't want to get started on that great debate/war w/sigma vs. glock.my personal opinion is that glock makes a fine weapon but so does springfield and s&w,and h&k,and ruger, and so on.i guess it is a lot like ford vs gm.
anyway,i didn't get to field strip my buddy's m/p to look at the internals.i was so amazed about how they both look so much alike.any comments would be appreciated.:D

I own both. There are 0 similarities. The M&P breaks in much easier but I still love both and am looking forward to the SD

I've got about 5000 rounds through my M&P 40, and just sent it back to S & W for a trigger job. I thought it might be a good idea try one.

I got a call yesterday from a guy in the shop and he said the condition it's in now is as good or better than he can work it. Okay, I told him, and it's on the way back right now.

Truth be told, after I had sent it off I had second thoughts about the trigger job anyway. I'm used to it, it breaks clean and the reset is where I know it will be in successive shots. He's going to replace the recoil spring and the slide lock mechanism at my request.

I've never shot a sigma, but I can tell you with all honesty that the M & P is fine pistol and I can't wait to get it back.

I love my Sigma and i have owned Glocks .Mine shoots as well as any Glock and fits better in my hand.

Sigma's are I fine wine. Way better with age. I don't understand why you would take springs out of the gun. They are there for a reason. After 12,000 rounds My sigma trigger breaks at 8 pounds. There is no Grity feel. It is 100% original and I just about 1000 rounds ago disassembled the slide and cleaned it.( There was nothing to clean.)

I say shoot the gun for what it is. And make sure you have fun.

i had taken the springs out and polished the action (just like half of the people who own one do) so i could actually hit something wth the gun.i don't have the resources to run 12,000rnds through a single handgun to break in the trigger.
i kept the old parts so i can re-install one day if they are needed.

I didn't run 12,000 rounds though the gun to break it in. I shoot 12,000 rounds through the gun over 8 years. The first 1200-1500 rounds were rough. It was my first handgun. But it was the sigma that as me shooting 4 inch plates at 30 yards offhand with my 66-2.

I didn't... My Sigma was fine right out of the box. No trigger work needed. I think the figure of those that did same trigger work and/or removed springs is much lower the 50%. IMO I think it's less the 20%.
