Sigma questions

Has anyone blued or blackened sigma slide?

Just curious if anyone has blued or blackened their sigma slide, and if so, what did you use and how did it turn out? I think that the dark slide would be slightly less noticeable and, to me, more attractive.

Yes the trigger can be a problem especially if the gun isn't cleaned thoroughly.

Otherwise it is a good shooter and has a great feel. I gave mine a little extra feel!

Making the stainless steel slide black is not really a "home" job, unless you are applying a coating. You can have it blackened, chrome sulfide, for about $50. There are numerous other treatments to also blacken the stainless-- most are more expensive.

I believe the Sigma is a nice looking gun.

It's lines and the way it feels in my hand is great.

I had mine at the range yesterday

I put another 100 rounds through it w/o a problem.

I hope you enjoy yours.

Years ago I carried a Chiefs Special with exposed hammer. The weapon was carried in pocket. IMHO the Sigma is safer to carry with a round in the chamber than was the Chiefs Special. From what I have seen on various forums and my limited shooting experience with my Sigma, it will only go bang when you want it to.

I recently got a really good deal on a Sigma 9mm ve.

I'm still getting to know this pistol, but so far I like it. It fits my hand so well, it feels better than most other pistols I've handled. And for some reason I really like the heavy trigger.

From what I've read, this gun seems to be the "red headed step child" of S&W pistols. Not many people have good things to say, unless they actually own one.

Anyway, I'd like some feedback for anyone who has some Sigma knowledge.

I have a Fobus paddle holster for carry.

I do have a question about safety. I know there's a trigger safety, but I don't know about the internal safeties (or if there are any). Can someone enlighten me?

I have a Glock 30 which seems similar to the Sigma, but doesn't fit my large hands. I carry the glock with a round chambered as I am familiar with the safeties.

Would you carry your Sigma chambered or is that a bad idea?

Any input greatly appreciated.

SIGMA is designed to carry with one "up the pipe," so to speak. It has a firing pin safety to prevent inertial discharge if dropped on the muzzle and the trigger safety to prevent inertial discharge if dropped on its rear. It has a disconnector so it cannot be fired out of battery. Basically, it is designed for LE or self-defense use with a round in, ready to go. There is no manual safety on the SIGMA, so in that sense it is like the Beretta 92D, the Glock, the S&W M&P, the SIG Sauer, Walther P88 and P99 and other makes that do not have safety levers. If you want to fire, pull the trigger, if you do not want to fire, do NOT pull the trigger. As long as you do not pull the trigger, you are safe.

Thanks for all the information guys, i am finding it very useful.
