sigma rebate question

Rmcky - I got an email from the guys doing the rebate to wait 8 to 10 weeks. If you don't get yours soon I would call or email them.

Thanks Kona, I will. Only problem with calling them is, I got the impression that the only thing they have to check is the same online form we have access to. When I last called, she asked the exact same questions as asked on the form, then she simply said they hadn't recieved it. That was a couple of months after I mailed it, so I asked what I needed to do. She said I should resubmit it, which I was preparing to do the next day, when it mysteriously appeared on the website, dated as recieved a month earlier. Her attitude towards customer service appeared to be, play stupid and this guy will go away, since she did absolutely no research beyond checking the website. The entire phone call lasted less than three minutes, with no attempt at any solution. Sounds like this rebate processer may very well be in over their heads. I'll wait a couple of more weeks and then contact S&W. Hopefully, they'll care a little more about it.

Another week with no rebate. This makes 9 weeks. 12 since I mailed off the rebate form. 9 since the rebate website said it was received.

Just checked on mine, FINALLY says that it was received and validated... I guess now the wait to actually get it back starts? I chose the $50.00 rebate because I got the two mags with it, bought one off Gunbroker, then won another auction on there for buy one get one free and no one else bid, so got the pair for the opening bid of $37.00 shipped! Five mags is enough, I think, at least for the present time.

I mailed mine in on Jan 4th.

Received the check Mar 19th.

Gotta love it!

Hopefully, that's good news for me, too. Mailed mine on Jan 5th. Posted as validated 1/31. Shipping date still open, but I have high hopes of seeing it very soon. Did send them an E-mail last Friday evening, but haven't heard back from them yet. Hopefully, I'll have the check in my hand first and won't have to depend on their ineptness.

I believe I mailed mine on February 22, and now that I've checked the website today it shows "Valid Submission Received" on February 26. I'll post when I actually receive them.

I sent mine in around Feb 16th and it shows the entry date as Feb 26, 2010. So hopefully it will arrive soon.

edit: I just noticed under quantity on the rebate website it says [9 MM 16 RD MAG $0.00 Quantity 1]. Does this just mean 1 rebate or am I only getting 1 magazine?

Whata bunch of worthless POS's

Here's their reply to my e-mail inquiry:

Thank you for your request. Please allow 10 weeks from the entry date of
January 31, 2010 for processing.
Have a good day.

S&W, this **** suks! You folks need to fire this bunch and hire someone who's capable of taking care of your business in a reasonable manner. This is absolutely unacceptable. It's already been 11 weeks and now they want me to wait another month. I'm afraid you've made your last sale to this idiot who was lured in by your rebate offer. Additionally, I intend to notify anyone I can find about this BS. If this is the best you can do, it's really sad. What a joke! A bad one, at that.

I look at it like this, "When I get it, I get it." I am old enough to not get upset at things anymore. I bought my new Sigma for the gun alone. The rebate was an after thought. If I had only bought it for the money or 2 free mags, that doesn't say a whole lot about the product. Give it time.....Remember, "Good things come to he who waits."

I am also tring to wait patiently for my rebate I sent in on Feb 10. First time I checked online, I entered the wrong phone number. After that, even when I corrected my phone number, it said it had no record. Logged off and back on, entered correct phone number and it showed up as being processed. So make sure your info is correct or log off and back on if you need to correct it. Still no rebate though. I liked the 9mm Sigma, but was looking for a glock as the trigger feels better to me. But when they offered the rebate, I decided to try the Sigma. Fired 300 rounds, I like it, got use to the trigger, and was thinking about getting it in the 40 cal version. But since I still have not recieved my rebate and see so many others having problems, I will no longer factor the rebate in my future buying decisions. With out the rebate, a Glock is looking like the better deal to me. Really, does it take that long to send a check? It has already been processed and approved, whats the reason for the long delay except to piss people off and lose customers?

Just thought I would update those that care. I sent my form in the last week of December well yesterday afternoon in the mail my rebate arrived. It only took around 12 weeks but I did get it. Now I can order up my crossbreed holster.

I mailed my rebate form in the last week of Feb. and it showed up on the website as a "Valid submission received on March 5th" a couple of days ago. To me it really doesn't matter when the 2 extra mags get here. This pistol is worth every penny of the $299 that I paid for it. I've put almost a thousand rounds through it of various ammo and it has never hiccuped.

Well, mine has changed to shipped 3/22. Don't know if my ranting helped or if it just took that much time to work it's way through the system, but we'll see when it arrives.

I'm sorry, but I have a different view on rebates than a lot of you. I see rebates as a round about way for companies to take out no interest loans off the books. Afterall, they're not doing me a favor giving me my own money back. With the number of rebates S&W deals with, that's an awful lot of free float. Add to that the fact that a Sigma is worth $250 tops and I do have a tendancy to get a little impatient. Since I took the convenient route and paid a premium to buy mine from Academy, after all is said and done, I'll have around $292 in mine, after taxes and rebate.

I have no problem with being patient, when I'm being dealt with fairly. Unfortunately, I don't feel this transaction was handled above board. 2 months after I submitted mine, I was told it wasn't recieved and that I should resubmitt it. Then, the next day, it posted as recieved a month after I mailed it. What's up with that? Then, it just sits there for another 2 months and, when I inquire again, I get some more smart assed BS telling me it'll be another month. Sorry, But I just can't find much joy in shenanigans like that.

While I still feel S&W is a good company, I can't say the same for their associates. This rebate company is pretty lame, IMHO. I'm sure my business will have little or no effect on their bottom line, but this mess has soured me enough that I don't think I'll ever purchase another new S&W product. Oh, I still think enough of their products to continue buying them, but they'll be used from now on.

My 2 magazines showed up in the mail today! Rebate mailed 2/4, showed up as received on the website on 2/12, mailed from S&W, Springfield, MA on 3/22. Website still does not show a shipped on date. Received just about 7 weeks from mailing.

You got lucky Marlin. I mailed mine in the middle of January and the website says received on February 5th. Yet still no check.

You do understand that the company who handles this does other things besides the Smith & Wesson rebate program?

I checked on the status of mine. I see they got it. I guess they'll send a check sooner or later, but I didn't buy the gun because it had a rebate.

Yes I understand that. I'm just a bit disappointed that the check hasn't made it's way here yet.

I understand that also. But if handling rebates is their specialty, shouldnt they be a little better at it? Thats like saying UPS handles more then just your package so they should have the right to take for ever to deliver it with no good reason? Really, every thing was recieved and processed a long time ago. What is so hard about printing the check and putting it in the mail? I usually dont fall for this rebate crap, but I thought with a name like S&W behind it, it wouldnt be a headache like most rebates I have dealt with in the past. And for me, the rebate DID play a big part in me buying the Sigma over something else. I bought it on sale and with rebate it was $300, about what I think its worth. For the $400 it normally retails for, I would have spent a little extra and bought something nice that did not need a trigger job just to make it decent.
