Always liked the .357 Winchester Silvertips load and been looking for some for my 10mm. It is always cataloged but never seems to be available in almost any caliber, except maybe .38 or nine. Anyone know if they quit producing it for good?

My experience is that its always been kind of hard to find. At one point, I even ended up buying Silvertip projectiles from Midway as components, this was at least 10 years ago though.

According to Winchester their Silvertip ammo is a seasonal run and they don't produce it year round. Over the past 6 or 8 years they produce their .357 Magnum ammo only every 2 years. I waited over a year and a half last time and when they were available I bought a few boxes. I would have bought more but @$50/box, well you know...

I went to a few of my favorite online stores and put my name on their email notification list. When they are available you will get an email and you can get some. I think we are getting close to the time they will be available again IIRC.

I buy Winchester Silvertip 10mm every time I find them. I was at a small local gun show recently where a dealer had about 20 boxes of Winchester Silvertip 10mm at $15.95 a box. I bought all of them.

Thanks for the info. I will buy some whenever I see it. I know the .357 STHP and 10mm STHP are great loads, but does anyone might know how the .38+P Silvertip load stacks up?

The 125gr .38 Special +P Silvertips I shot were very accurate in my M36. I think the bullet is good too even though it's older tech. It seems ever caliber from Winchester made with Silvertip bullets are very accurate. The same holds true for the 60gr .32 Auto Silvertip ammo.

I carry Silvertips in my Glock .40s. It is probably the same bullet. A study I read about 15 years ago said it about a 96% one shot stop load.
I bought about 5 boxes a few years ago at Scheels.

Thanks. I do love how Silvertips hold together. With SJHPs and the .38 FBI load the lead tips sometimes deform with carry, which I think could affect expansion. Silvertips and Hyrda-Shok type loads seem to stay clean even with abuse.
