I made a billet charging handle a couple of months ago. I am still deciding if I will go into production with this or not. I am interested in hearing some feed back on this project. Right now pricing is up in the air. If there is enough interest, I will look into having the charging handle quoted. I will be offering the latches soon.

Looks nice, but there are already two such handles on the market, albeit only one is ambi. Unless you can bring it in under about $40, you will be hard pressed to compete in such a small niche.

The latch is another matter. There is no other separate ambi latch on the market and that might be a better seller. I would think a latch with some kind of paddle (at least on the left side) would have a greater appeal than what you show. Both the PT and the NDZ have paddles, and that is part of their appeal. That's why I bought the PT - the ambi latch with paddles.

Good luck with the project, though.

Just from a visual comparison of pictures I'm thinking that I prefer the design of the PT charging handle.

I suspect, however, that if you manufacture these, you'll probably find a market for them...

That is why I have not looked into bringing this to market yet. I may still shop around for quotes, but I am still debating on moving forward with this project.

Personally I am not fond of latches that stick way out there. The left hand side of the latch is only a little bit bigger than the stock latch. But I do know what works for one person may not work for every one. I may come up with another design to have a slightly larger paddle on the left and right hand side.

I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ill take one with a standard latch.

Shut up and take my money.

:D

If the price is right for the handle and the latch I will buy 1.

Shhh.....don't tell my wife though:)

Make the right side of the latch bigger and I'll sell my PT handle to buy one. I'm a left-handed shooter. I like the PT handle, but the left side latch sticks out too far IMO. I guess it wouldn't bother me if I used it, but I don't and I'm about to chop it.

Just when I thought I was done ordering stuff you have to post your website and this goody! Didn't know I could get a lefty fire/safe selector

After the charging handle/latch and the safety, the next ambi part to get is the Norgon ambi mag release. It's expensive making firearms left-hand friendly, but worth it every time you go shooting.

I understand what you are saying and don't totally disagree with you. The problem I have is that the latch is difficult (for me) to unlatch and pull the handle back with just my fingertips on the left side. I wind up straddling the handle with my first two fingers to pull it back. This is hampered by my scope installation. It's so much easier with the extended paddle. I haven't tried the NDZ, but I expect that would work for me, as well. Being able to do it with the right thumb and forefinger also, is a real convenience at times.

As I said previously, good luck with the project.

That is a good point. I don't use any kind of optic. I have a Primary Arms micro dot, but I prefer to stick with my iron sights. I'm used to using my thumb and forefinger without issue.

But with all of the different types of red dots and scopes out there, I could see how it would interfere with a standard size latch. Perhaps having multiple latch size options would be a good idea.

Thanks for the feedback Majorlk!

I am not sure what the price range will be for this. It will be a few weeks before I can estimate a price.

Some suggestions have been made about the latch and I am looking into doing some redesign work on it, along with having a couple of different size options.

Being you have "played" with it. Is it very snag proof out in the brush or easy to snag on anything ? That would be my concern while hunting. Range it would be fine.

I have not been able to get out and run around with the latch, most of my shooting is limited to the range. I am going to some more made to send out for T&E and I should have them within the next couple of weeks.
