The thread on the "Toronto cop who didn't shoot" thread reminded me........
Recently I had a chance to do "Simulation training" with the local Police Dept.
First if you ever get the chance ....... do it..... it's a blast; better than any video game going!!!!!! I got to see +20 scenarios played out and critiqued
It was cool ..... depending on what you do the computer reacts and modifies the scenario..................
Mine was as backup on a routine traffic stop.... that ended up with me having to engage two shooters........ I survived!!!!!!!
Night scenario... I had a flashlight in my left hand to illuminate the scene.............. everything else was dimmed........ It started with me on the passenger's side....lighting up the cab with my flashlight ..... holstered weapon.............................watching the passenger... watching me.
The driver got out of the pickup truck when my "partner" went back to run his license...started to tell him to get back in the truck..... didn't see his gun (1911) until he raised it above the truck bed. He got one shot off at my partner.... before I could draw and fire...... three hits...... before he went down.
Passenger got out while I was engaging the driver and pulled a small stainless automatic from the front pocket of her hoodie...... ordered her X2 to show me her hands but she came out with the gun....... shot her twice.
I beat the double...... tunnel vision test......everything was in "shadows" except where my flashlight was pointed
Was able to note the driver's movement off to my left and engage when the gun appeared................
then........ was able to transition back and engage with the passenger after shooting the driver. No recollection of drawing the Glock ( shoots a laser w/ compressed air recoil )
For me time slowed down..... but someone said later ...it was like;Bangbangbang...Bangbang.
Funny about 15 minutes later.... the Chief comes over and asks.... "Do you shoot much?"
I was pleased with my performance.... going in, I was afraid I'd embarrass myself.
Again if you ever get the chance to do this ........ don't pass it up....it's a real hoot!!!!!!!
