That's where stuff like Kessler and Seagram's comes in:

20% of some cheap straight bourbon
80% of neutral grain alcohol
= American Blended Whiskey

Motto: All the booze and just enough flavor to taste better than vodka shots

I am more of an Irish and Scotch drinker but I do like Buffalo Trace, it is however hard to get in my area. You have to put your name on a list to get it. My go to Irish is Bushmills and my go to Scotch is Dewars White label and on the rare occasion I can afford it The Glenlivet.
However like others have said you need to experiment with whatever yu drink and see how it suits you taste. I prefer any of it neat. Very rarely will I drop a cube of ice in anything.

My daddy used to drink Schenley O.F.C. 8 Year Old Blended Canadian Whisky. He would tell me that OFC stood for "Only for Catholics". It's pretty good stuff. I drank a fair number of alcoholic beverages in college, with Rebel Yell being one of my favorites. Wild Turkey is good too.

I've tried a number of single malt scotches, but prefer Chivas Regal.

I seldom drink anymore. The wife and I still have bottles of booze that we bought when we got married in 2008.

An old thread, like good whiskey, just gets better with age. Knob Creek, and Buffalo Creek are my favorites. Our son just introduced me to Rebel Yell recently, also on the list now.

I've been sitting on a bottle of Wild Turkey Longbranch for a few months and finally opened it. It might just have become my favorite sipping bourbon. Aged 8 years and bottled at 43%, it is smooth, but with a characteristic Wild Turkey finish. This one is too good to go in a cocktail.

From what I hear, real bourbon comes from Kentucky. My uncle was a Kentucky farmer and sold corn to Jim Beam. His favorite was Buffalo Trace though, and I drink it in his honor when I get the chance. It's a darn good bourbon. Cheers all!

While I have tried Bourbons from Colorado, Pennsylvania, NY, South Carolina and probably a few other States that I forgot about, NONE come close to Kentucky Bourbon!!

And yes while Jack Daniels is not technically a Bourbon, I love it, (the old No 7, the Single Barrel and the Sinatra Select) - and that is from Tennessee (close enough) .

I like the cheapest brandy I can find . Free of flavoring and coloring . Usually a double over ice with a half ounce of water . Keeps me from shooting myself .

Two superb choices.

The standard bottlings of both Knob Creek and Elijah Craig lost their age statements a few years ago; too much demand and not enough old barrels. But these got to keep them, the KCSB at 9 years and ECBP at 12 years.

I guess I'm just a peasant. I am not a big alcohol drinker but every now and then I like a JB and ginger ale. When Karen was really sick post transplant and we didn't know if she would live I would call in to a small bar on the walk back "home" each evening for one, just to relax. And as a remedy for a head cold it can't be beat LOL.

I bought three 1 litre and a 500ml bottle duty free on a trip to Australia over 15 years ago and I am just about finished it. I think a bottle or two may be collected when I pass through the duty free stores in a few weeks time.

And I may just pick up a bottle of Rebel Yell when in Phoenix after I visit Dillon Precision.

Many whisky aficionados hate the term "smooth". As Ralfy once said, you could probably describe a pile of poop as smooth if you chose to interact with it

PS: If you don't know Ralfy, you're not a whiskey nerd. He's a Scot who mostly reviews Scotch, but has a refreshingly open mind about Bourbon.

My most recent favorite is Bulleit Bourbon. I like to buy the 1L bottle. It lasts longer. Before that, I was sippin' Buffalo Trace.

I am late to this party (no pun intended) but I thought I would contribute my choices. In bourbon and sour mash whiskies I was a Jack Danials and Jim Beam drinker for decades. I found Bullet Burbon and liked it also. Then, out of the clear blue, I drank some Makers Mark. I found it to be smoother than anything else I had tried and it has become my sipping burbon. I don't mix it with anything and I take my time with it. Good stuff. For Scotch, I like Balvenie, 21 year old. A real sipping Scotch for very special occasions. I "sip" rarely but when I do I want it to be a memorable experience.

maybe in the comments somewhere but i understand buffalo trace is reeeeeal goo...store usually just get a case or 2 so often and u have to be there when they get it...is it that good???
