I have a Milt Sparks PMK holster on order for a 3" 686+. How close are the K and L frames in size; will the 2 1/2" RB Model 19 I just made a deal on fit in the same holster? I have a feeling the 19 will require its own holster?

Sorry for the dumb question.

You know, I've been able to use L-frames in some decent manufacturers' K-frame holsters - which surprised me - frankly, I wouldn't have thought that there would have been enough play. With Sparks (renowned for precise manufacture), though, I'd be very surprised if your L-frame PMK OWB was adequately tight to carry your K-frame well.

I've got several K's, and L's.

Most of the time, you can stretch the K frame holster a bit to work with the L.

The other way around usually gives a loose fit, which will wear the blue.

I would wager that you won't have a problem with a K frame in an L frame holster. As long as the holster does not have a thumbsnap that crosses under the trigger guard in front of the finger grip, most will fit. Some K frame holsters are snug and may cause problems depending on the angle of the draw with L frames. L frame holsters do have an obvious amount of extra space at the cylinder area when combared side by side with K frame holsters but the hammers are more or less in the same place with both frames.

I guess I'll call tomorrow and ask. I'm within the 30 window where I can change or add to my order.
