I'm going to have a holster made for my 6906, but I was thinking of getting it for a 5906 so I'd have the room when the day comes that I ever get one. If I'm not mistaken, the only difference in the two is that the 5906 has a slightly longer slide and longer grip, so if I had a holster made for the 5906, my 6906 would fit just right with a little left over at the muzzle. Would this be correct?

Make sure the 5906 has a round trigger guard. I have a 6906 with a round guard, and a 5903 with the squared trigger guard, and it is hard to find square trigger guard holsters. Still not gonna sell the 5903. Near perfect shape, and so much lighter than a 5906.

I have a 5906 holster, and a 5906, 6906 and an older 439. The 439 fits a little loose, as it is a single stack, but all 3 fit. All 3 have round trigger guards.

I would suggest getting the holster sized to the 6906 and have the maker leave the bottom open enough for the extra length of the 5906 to stick through.

For one you have the 6906 now and no ETA on when you will have the 5906 so its safe to say that for a while it will only be used with the 6906.

I have a holster that is made to carry my G32, from time to time I use it with my 26 which is about 1/2" shorter. Using the holster with my 26 has made the end of the holster worn out looking because the extra leather with no slide behind it tends to bend and wrinkle durning normal wear.

Another thing to consider is this. For me I can easily conceal a Sig 226 under a normal fitting T-shirt, however for comfort I rarely carry it. Now I don't know your situation but I would take an educated guess and assume your 6906 will reside in the holster alot more often than the 5906 would.
