Sleep Apnea Solution?

I use a CPAP, had a serious issue with holding my breath and not breathing so much my wife insisted I get checked out. I did the sleep study, turns out I wasn't sleeping deep at all. It wasn't long after I began using the machine, maybe a couple of days that I told my wife I felt good but a little weird. I figured out the weird was how I should feel and it had been so long since I slept well I didn't know what normal was. The machine can be a pain sometimes, but I wouldn't be without one now.

I am in the Respiratory business, providing oxygen and CPAP therapy. Short, tall, skinny, fat, young, old, anyone can have sleep apnea. CPAP therapy does take a positive attitude and a little getting used to. The results are worth it.
The surgery does work for some and some still have problems even after the surgery. Most insurances will cover CPAP and disposable supplies.

:( I have had SA for years and had two sleep studies. The results were the same I have it very bad. I have tried and tried to use the CPAP machine and can't tolerate it. The last time I went and had a sleep study "two years ago" the Doctor said he could help me. I had already told him I couldn't tolerate the mask but he said he could help. What was his advice? You guessed it another mask. I was so mad I haven't been back. I just don't know what else to do. Don

I Have severe sleep apnea. I did my sleep study 2 mos ago and have a C-pap now for abt 40 days. I'm going to try a new mask when it gets in. I have the nose mouth mask now. Its something to get used to for me. Some nites are good and some I take the mask off before the alarm goes off. I have a beard that I trimmed down to seal the mask better. I took the test 8-9 yrs ago and refused to use a C-pap, seemed like a life support system and the machine looked like a hoover vacuum. I actually QUIT BREATHING 70 times an hour according to an ear-nose and throat doctor that had a copy of my sleep study. I'm tired of being tired so I'll get used to the machine. I'm not much over weight, actually lost 35 lbs. Larry

Some of the masks can be difficult, especially the ones mentioned here that seal by pressing into the face. I have used several different versions over the last few years and the ResMed Swift FX is by far the best I've used thus far. The only drawback is during times when you have congestion or a stuffy nose and then I resort to the old style. If you haven't tried one it might be some help to you. Here's a link.

ResMed - Swift

The Swift FX is one of our most popular masks. It has minimal headgear and is about as comfortable as a mask can get. However, not everyone can use a nasal mask. Some folks breathe through the mouth when they sleep. This requires a chin strap or a move to a full face mask.

The ResMed Quattro is our most popular full face mask. The new Quattro FX still has a few issues with the cushion leaking at the bridge of the nose. ResMed has acknowledged this and is working on it.

No one wants to use a CPAP machine. But, if you go into the therapy with a positive attitude, you can do it and benefit from the results.

NFL player Reggie White's death is linked to Obstructive Sleep Apnea. It is serious.

CPAP machine has saved my fathers brain and life literally! He was getting less than 40% of the oxygen he needed while sleeping. <---(insane I know) He was having problems remembering anything at all, when he went for his sleep study he quit breathing over 200 times in 45 minutes, he got the machine and now he is almost a completely different human being.
