Greetings All,

I was shooting steel plates with standard velocity 22 rounds when the slide started sticking to the rear. I could tap it down with a finger near the rear sight and it would go forward ready to fire again. I started with a clean pistol and was into a second box of 50 when this started. It feels like it is back to the point where the slide lifts off for disassembly. The rear of the slide is slightly raised enough to halt if from going forward until I push it down and it goes forward.

Is this gun broke? Is this some operator head-space and timing issue?

I took it apart and checked the placement of the piece that rotates down and then slides out. The pistol seems to be put together correctly and function checks.

What do you think?

I cleaned it and it still sticks to the rear. The rear of the slide appears to go up leaving a gap. When the rear of the slide is pushed down it goes forward.

I'd be looking at the slots in the slide where the frame lugs ride. anything cracked or broken off there? How about on the frame lugs themselves? Good Luck.

Here are pictures of the slide and frame rails along with a hammer photo. I don't see anything broken or excessively worn, but I am not a gun smith either. Does your hammer sit up as high when cocked?

I had the same problem and fixed it by polishing the hammer where it rides against the slide. That little bit of resistance affected it.

That's a winner!!!! Little dremel tool polishing and I am back in business!!

Thanks for the tip!

I had the EXACT same issue with my M&P 22. First showed up when it got a little cold.
