I'm thinking of adding a sling to my m&p 15or. And had questions on the attachment locations and sling basics. From my reading I think I want a basic 2-pt sling but having one that can be both a 1 or 2 point may be worthwhile.

I think for the front ill be ok going with a QD swivel attached to the bottom of the gas block.

I get confused on the rear attachment point though. For basic 2 point slings I've seen attachments on the buffer tube, the bottom of the stock or attached or wrapped into slots in the stock itself. Will any of those work for a 1pt sling as well? Or does it have to be a swivel attached to the buffer?

Thoughts or advice appreciated.

Thanks! Will look into the end plate and magpul slings. Will have to find something else that fits the magpul moe handguard. Maybe something like this from IWC?

Or like BillyJack you could get the MS3 QD and this Magpul loop

I've heard good things about IWC, haven't bought yet.

The joy of ARs is the amazing amount of different solutions. The horror of ARs is the amazing amount of different solutions.

I realize your handguards are different from my 15T, but I scored this QD w/swivel from Troy industries for my front rail. Now I can either use the QD button or attach a sling w/hooks.

For 1 point attachment behind the receiver I bought this which attaches to the buffer tube.

If you are having trouble figuring out where to attach your sling, that's what para cord is for.

I use the Viking Tactics two-point sling for pretty much everything.

I just move it from one rifle to the next as needed.

HK hooks on the ends make swapping from one gun to another that much easier.
