Heard on the radio that gun sales are slowing down. Wonder if that is because nothing is left. Maybe everyone is spent out.

There's just not that much left to buy......I have 2 more P2P remaining while the clock is ticking and just can't seem to find anything that I have to have or even remotely consider.
I venture I'm not the only one in that position,also some are just biding their time,waiting for all those overpriced firearms bought in the spur of the moment with credit cards coming due to get dumped on the market if or when the White House decides a AW ban is futile and not politically expedient.

Yup, I think the worst is over. Now we get to watch all of those overpriced panic buys try and recoup their $$$. I'm seeing more and more "NIB", "never been fired", ARs for sale in the local gun trader.

Sounds good then I can try to find 223 ammo.....don't need any more trauma in my life....I'm hoping to be able to keep my custom BHP..14 rounds...very scary...

I dropped in to the LGS today and was surprised to see he actually had 4-5 ARs for sale. All of em' were priced well north of $1.2k. He had one very ugly used AK...I didn't bother to price it. Very little ammo, and general stock was way down.
Lots of empty shelves up here in NH. Managed to get 2 boxes of 9mm yesterday but no 22LR, no 40S&W and no 45ACP. Gun shelves almost empty for pistols, a few revolvers around and quite a few rifles, except for those nasty black ones.

I think everyone around here is tapped out. I visited a pawn/gun store here today and although they were selling things, there was plenty of stock on the walls and in the cases.

Went to a LGS today when I heard they had some CCI 22LR's in stock. Had a limit of 2 boxes per customer of 100 mini-mags
Noticed they had in stock 2 M&P 1522's cheaper than I have seen listed on gun broker.

.223/5.56 is just a bit above 50¢ here right now. if you're willing to pay that, there is quite a bit of it. I am seeing pmags for $30-35 locally. (They were as much as $60 each at the January gun show.)
My favorite internet ammo sellers are still out of stock.
I think the drop off is at least partly due to low inventory, partly high prices, and partly the demand is getting satisfied. My take, it it'll be a rough road for at least 9 months.

well it is feb 5th, so I would say the credit card bill for jan. has come in and wives are beating the living day lights out of some husbands for going on a nice shopping spree.

A well known online seller had over 1000 tins of commie 5.45 x 39 it sold out in hours...
Local stores are cleaned out, wall racks are empty, pistol cases are bare.

That's because there are no guns left in the stores to sell!
I just ordered some re-loading supplies today and was told I could expect delivery in the late summer if i was lucky.

My favorite little gunshop has closed Sun/Mon & Tues now due to the fact that ... well, there's not that much left to sell.
A shop in the next county over from me has closed 'til he can restock.

Yeah. And to think that I thought 10K large pistol and 10K small pistol primers was a good enough cushion.
I was talking to the owner of my favorite LGS. He has several hundred thousand dollars of product ordered, but no clear time frame for delivery. His major gun lines- S&W, Ruger, Glock, FN and DPMS are behind by at least four to six months. Ammo has no estimated time of arrival, same with powder and primers. Word on primers-all are going into ammo production until the supply lines get filled.
He also said several small shops in PA, OH and WV were closing their doors in February and March. (He buys -out the remaining inventory for his store) They can't get merchandise and aren't active used buyers. His feelings are within the next six months about 30% of the "brick and mortar" gun shops will be gone. Victims of the panic buying which has created the perfect storm of product unavailability. You can't pay the bills if you have nothing to sell!

I'm wondering how small guns shops, who have little inventory are going to fair over the next few months. I'm guessing they might get some reflux from people needing to sell the "knee-jerk" reaction buy, to pay for their income taxes. Unless they are going to be taking down payments on new firearms that will slowly trickle their way out.

My favorite LGS has little on the shelves, but they did get a nice shipment of Glocks, a few SIG's and some Smith's including a couple of Pro Series revolvers (sold--smiley face! I'm one whose wife just hit the roof!). No ammo to speak of.
Another larger shop where I go to look, has a decent selection of ammo as long as it is oddball. Who would have thought you could find 10mm, .41 magnum, and 8mm Lebel, easier than 9mm. They did get some .223 in, limit 2 boxes, 20 rounds each. That is encouraging.

The numbers on the radio this morning said over 2.75 million calls for background checks in Dec and down 10% in Jan. That means there were only 2 1/2 million calls with some rejected and some for multiple sales. Gun shows in State in MT do not require a call for handguns with non FFL and no call on rifles non FFL in state.
Its gotten bad out here in west Texas. Shops are limiting ammo to 1 or 2 boes. 223/556 for all purposes is non existant. Black rifles are few and far between. If the do show up they are instantly sold. Pistol inventories are shockingly low. I've never see so much empty space in LGS gun display cases. Its downright scary. Another month like this and I expect to see shops reduce hours or close outright.

Well I think one factor that isn't being taken into consideration is that a lot of the inventory that flew off the shelf in the past month was to re-sellers. Only words of advise: Patience young grass hopper. Check your local for sale ads and see how much ammo is posted for sale.
In one of my local swap & sells today I see:
Over 4,000 rounds of 7.62 x 39
2,700 rounds .223
800 rounds 45acp
450 rounds of 40 S&W
650 rounds of 38 special
600 rounds 9mm
38 Tapco Mags for AK
If you search .223 ammo on GB, you get over 1,500 auctions, if you limit it to auctions that are ending in the next 24 hours there are 534 results under rifle ammunition. Quickly adding up the rounds on the first page I got 10,100 and there are 10 more pages. So if the 11 pages average that there is roughly 110,000 rounds of just .223 ending in auction form on GB in the next 24 hours.
There are 79 auctions for "small pistol primers" on GB currently. Quickly adding it up in my head I came to over 272,000 small pistol or small pistol magnum primers.
There are 127 auctions for "small rifle primers" on GB as well. Quickly adding up in my head I came to over 237,000 primers.
Yeah the prices are crazy. Imagine if people who were looking actually maintained the will-power not to buy anything for 2 weeks...or a month on sites like GB. What do you think would happen to the prices?

I'd like a AR, but the prices are more then I got, or willing to pay.
Be nice if more ammo showed up. I was surprised there was enough reloaders to effect the market the way it has. I have found enough for me. Though wouldn't mind a bigger variety of bullets.
