I am doing research now but I found a nice little complement to the 547.... except this one uses moon clips. What can anyone tell me about these? How about the born on date? There is no dash after the model number. it was in a coat pocket for god knows how long so she'll need some cleaning.

Can you explain that to me please?

I believe the early 940s had a problem with shell casings sticking in the cylinder after firing. I'm sure that there's a thread on it somewhere on the forum. As I recall, the cylinders have a slight taper to them, which caused the problem.

That aside, that's a beautiful firearm. Back when they first came out I was going to buy one. I ended up with a 442 in .38spcl instead, but I'd still like a 940 if I ever find one and have the money in my pocket at the same time.

These are much less common than the 2" version and were slow sellers when new. Nice find!

Well, it shoots and ejects the empty cases with zero issue. Put 100 rounds through it with no issue before cleaning.

I dressed it up with some really nice Altamont grips. Another piece added into the carry rotation

You will like it.

TK is the source for quality moon clips.
Welcome to TK Custom.com & Moonclips.com

Then we have the Shoot A Moon Carrier. They now have a Single Post Carrier for the 5 shot J Frames. I have been carrying my 38 Moon Clip reloads in a couple for over a year. They work great, and nothing to wear out ever. They are just like the larger California Competition Works Post Carriers only smaller. I have only found one source for them.

When you get to the web site. This is how to find it.

Catagories: California Competition Works
Sub-Catagory: Revolver Accessories
Then select SAM for 5 Shot Revolvers

They are around $14 each.

Then get Ray at Lobo Gun Leather to make you an Enhanced Pancake and you will be cooking.

Ray is currently making me a nice IWB holster. He made a great sourdough for my M19 a while back.

I am already set for moon clips and a case remover.

I have another unopened pack as well.

How do the shoot a moon holders work, that site is pretty poor as far as information delivery and navigation.

Thanks for all the info.

Congrats on your 940. I have been looking for a 3" for some time now to complement my 2". There are a number of informative posts on the 940 and if you have some spare time, a search will provide some interesting reading. I am certain you will enjoy your new 940.

M940

Very cool. It looks like you are set. I found my M940 in a local shop. It came with the matching box, paperwork, and the proper grips. They had a very reasonable price tag on it and I couldn't resist. I took the boot grips off and put on the larger Uncle Mike's grips. When I look at the 3" version, I keep wishing it has an exposed hammer. That would make an awesome little kit gun, but they are still very neat, just the way they are. Good job.
