Great gun...I used to have one but it was stolen from me almost exactly a year ago here in Billings Montana. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I did mine. Totally reliable and accurate. Would like to get another one someday........

I bought one exactly like that at the gun show last Sunday. Mine was used, but doesn't look like it. I took it apart and it was dry as a bone, no lube at all. The ambidextrous safety was stiff and I spent a couple of hours while watching TV flipping it on and off, breaking it in.

The slide release is REALLY tight. It takes two hands to drop the slide if I use the slide release. I'm still working on that. The finish is so smooth and slick that my hand keeps slipping off when I rack the slide regardless of the front and rear slide serrations. As soon as the weather clears and warms up a bit, It's going to the range and we'll see how it does there.

1911 in .40 S&W

Does Smiff or anybody else make a standard production 1911 in .40?

This is a bit off thread, I apologize, but I also have a Smith 1911 with a tight slide release. I've discovered that if I ease the slide back from the point of lockup, it will then release easily.

You got a fine looking sidearm for sure. Will it be a daily carry or another to hold down the safe?

I have a 5" 1911SC that shoots way better than I can, which is a big ragged hole on a good day. Totally reliable and I see no need for another 1911. Please allow my M&P 45 and big FN 45 to help it along as necessary. Bob!
