I recently picked up this nice Smith and Wesson 645 with original box.

I just have one question as I noticed the front sight looks like the one from a 745 and not the normal red insert front sight seen on the 645. I figure maybe it was a custom order?

Nice Model 645 you have there! Yes, that's an unusual front sight for the 645. Both of mine and those that I have seen have all had the red ramp insert in a stainless finish sight. I also see it looks like the press fit barrel bushing is not fully seated. I'd check that closely for looseness and I do not know if S&W still repairs that issue.

Thanks for letting me know that. I used a brass mallet and tapped it back down. I will watch out to see if it creeps during shooting.

That is the first 645 I recall seeing without a red ramp sight. I wonder if a slide could slip out of the factory without the insert being installed. I’m curious if this 645 has the white outline rear sight?

The front sight looks identical to the 745 front sight. The rear sight does not have a white outline.
