Smith and Wesson shield in stock

Anyone have an idea what the time frame would look like if I put in an order with a LGS for a 9mm? I know that people have been saying that production is catching up, so does anyone have an approximate guess?

Hope they still have them, it said don't order if on backorder and since I didn't see backorder anywhere on the page I bought one.

It shows out of stock just under the picture. I ordered too and don't know if that was there or not. I have not received any notification from G & T Tactical although my credit card was charged.

UPDATE on mine. Apparently they (D&L) have been trying to get a hold of me with a wrong phone number (they were off by one digit) and needed to talk to me about my FFL.

Hmmm I ordered on March 9 (9mm shield in stock), called on March 13th to see if they got FFL info from FFL (They stated all looked good), called again on March 18th and that's when they stated they had been trying to call me (digit off on phone number) to tell me they never got FFL info. I then went straight to the FFL got him to email it to them right there on the spot (they did, as they did before), checked with D&L as soon as FFL sent info via email (D&L said they received it and would TRY to get it out for a 2 day shipment that day). Well, today March 19th, I received a voice mail from D&L indicating I should receive my Shield on March 20th. Thank the Lord! I just feel I shouldn't have had to do all that work to purchase a gun. However if there was a phone number typo by them I can understand....... but to tell me they first received my FFL info and then later state they never got it??? That I don't understand. Anyway, crossing fingers for Wednesday's delivery.

atheophilos -- I don't think the "out of stock" appeared until yesterday, so hopefully your order is fine. I did a mock order when I first saw the link just to test it, and it let me go through with the order until the very end (and then I canceled, because I already purchased a Shield earlier). I tried again yesterday, and it wouldn't even let me put the Shield in my cart because it said it was out of stock. So, I think if you were able to put it in your cart, and your order went through, you're good to go! Keep us posted!

What number are y'all calling D&L at?? I have been calling (401) 738-1889 for days and always get a busy signal

Thats the number. Just have to redial, redial, etc. The best time to get through is first thing in the morning, right after they open.

As for the process of FFL transfer...definitely a PITA if you've never done it before. But it is smoother than using gunbroker and money orders. D&L sent mine last THURS; arrived on MON; still waiting on the store to call me as they have a dedicated transfer person who is swamped due to low local inventory.

Obviously, an LGS is preferable. Instant gratification! :D

Looks like the 40's are easy to come by. My local Raleigh shops have them as well as almost all of the online suppliers mentioned above.

It all depends on how much pull and buying power your LGS has with their distributors. Shooters Outpost here in NH is the semi new kid on the block (though the owners of it are also the same owners of Manchester Firing line) They were able to get in hundreds of Shields in the last month or so. Smaller longer established LGS in the area have not seen even 1 Shield period. They have them on order but the deep pockets of Shooters Outpost owners (and I'm not taking a dig at them, I love the place) allows them to command a better in road to inventory. The same day they got in the Shields they also received pallets of M&P 15 Sports as well as pallets of M&P 15-22's They also got in a whole bunch of BodyGuards as well. I'm sure the distributor made a nice little commision check with that sale vs if he filled the smaller LGS orders

Received a ship notification and tracking number today. My new Shield should be here on Friday! Thanks G&R Tactical.

I purchased a 9mm Shield yesterday for $454.99 shipped from D&L Shooting Supplies (online). They had both 40 and 9mm available at that time...

Thanks for the heads up. Ordered my .40 Shield from D&L on 5 March and received on 18 March. Took longer than I was told but D&L got swamped with orders and backed up on shipping. Almost ordered a 9mm too, but figured I may as well wait for the LE bundle since there's no ammo to be had for the 9mm right now.

I got tired of waiting for a MA compliant version Shield. So I called around and picked up my new .40c yesterday. I love it!!!! Good luck to all of you guys, maybe i'll eventually buy one when or IF they become more available.

Looks nice.. I tried a M&P 9c for feel and fit and ended up with a 9 FS.. although, if the 9C would of had that extended mag finger grip I might have gone for it..

MA Compliant is a 10lb trigger pull versus the 6 lb of a standard Shield. I talked to the guy yesterday and he had about 10 of them. I debated getting one, but switching to a standard trigger or an upgraded one was too much.

Of course they got some in....because I just bought a compact yesterday!! Unbelievable!!!

I really debate between the Compact and the Shield. I went with the Shield and it will be here tomorrow. I hope you enjoy your Compact.

The .40 isn't hard to find in MA right now. Even with the 9mm, if you dig in, you can find them. I found two dealers with 9mm Shields in stock within about a week.
