I have a Smith Highway Patrolman, 28 no dash that somewhere in its earlier life was either nickel plated or hard chromed.
It is in great shape, good shooter, but it is time for me to move it along to a new owner. So questions:
How do you tell chrome from Nickel? I want to advertise it correctly.
I am going to sell it in Massachusetts, where I reside, as I don't want the revolver to leave the state. Gun laws here are designed to limit supply so I want it to remain here. Any idea of its value? It came with Pachmeyer grips, now has custom Hogue wood grips and it also has a set of Smith grips.

I think you may have posted the wrong photos. My guess is that is a 6" model 66-2 or later. The barrel is not pinned and I have never seen a HP with the trademark on the left side. It looks like a K frame to me.

you're correct, grabbed the wrong pictures, too many guns, too many pictures

Damn cataracts, surgery Monday, then maybe I can see,I think this one is correct

I can't help you on the gun but you mentioned S&W grips.
Depending on the vintage and style some are quite valuable on their own where you may be better off selling them separate

Just from the picture, I'm guessing it's nickel.

I don't know the market in your state. I would guess handguns sell for a little more in MA than they do in MI. Guesstimate at a base price (just as pictured) is $500. The extra stocks could raise the price.
