Smith & Wesson Model 41

It's easy for the firing pin and extractor cavities to accumulate carbon.
After I cleaned the bolt and holes out I polishes the three holes in the bolt with reamers. It made a big difference in the tension of the extractor spring and the smoothness as the extractor moved. Also the firing pin moves smoothly.
I went back to shooting CCI SV (it was on sale) and I just ordered 10 different sub sonic brands to try out too.

So based on what some of the other posters have said about the 41, I'll just be shooting standard V or subsonic from now on.

CCI STD VELOCITY ONLY

If it doesn't work in you m41, get a spring kit with a selection of reduced recoil springs. Work your way ay down from stock to weakest. Worked for me

I'm going to pick up my (NEW) Smith & Wesson Model 41 with a 7 inch barrel tomorrow what kind of ammo should I use I called Smith and Wesson and they said CCI Mini Mags. What do you-all shoot in your model 41.

The kind that works. A few Model 41s are sensitive to ammo, so be prepared for trial and error.

If you are shooting standard velocity because you are worried about high velocity beating up the trigger guard a reduced spring will have the same effect as shooting hotter ammo, you are not really gaining anything.

If you are doing it because the standard velocity is more accurate it would make sense.
