SMITH & WESSON - VS - JOHN DEERE

Maybe the model 10 was severely depressed and couldn't go on living any more. you didn't hear by chance...."goodbye cruel world......" at any moment running up to the tragedy? Really sorry for your lose.

When you get another snake gun, may I suggest an inexpensive shoulder holster. This one ($20) works well in AZ... where lawns are mostly illegal unless you can prove it's a golf course.

Had the same thing happen to my farm gun, a 2 3/4" Ruger Speed Six.

Was bush hogging 8-9 years ago, and my paddle holster came apart, and dumped the sixgun. I heard two shots, and stopped.

Found most of the pieces, about the same shape as yours.

I actually toyed with sending it to Ruger, to test their fabled warranty, but just didn't have the cajones to do it.

Kept the parts, and used several to repair a friends Ruger, so it kinda lives on.

Still miss that brute strong gun.

You're missing a great opportunity. Forget contacting S@W, get in touch with John Deere! Show them how tough their mowers are. (Nothing runs like a Deere).

Agree 100%! I am a little surprised that the JD won in the first place, but undamaged? Definitely worth advertising - although they might consider paying the cost of the funeral, considering that their "demographic" is probably rather pro-gun.

I might have a trigger if you need one.:)

Does the Deere have a warning sticker on it that says not to place guns under the mowing deck?

If not, sue.

I'd ask for a box-tell them you are very displeased as to the quality of their guns and they ought to "make it right." Worst they can do is say no.

Son,
I sure nuff hate that happened to ya.

You might want to consider a stout belt holster.

Or, a bolted on scabbard. ~smile~

Hope your homeowners insurance will replace it.

Su Amigo,
Dave

It is unfortunate the the OP was deluded into believing that his Smith and Wesson was of such quality that it would withstand the rather tame impact of the whirling blades of a bushhog..I for one would rather see the OP replace his snake gun with something much more durable and substantial than a lowly Smith and Wesson revolver...I have linked some more durable choices below...

Too bad eBay doesn't allow firearm auctions. You could advertise it as being in "Minty" cosmetic condition, needing only minor repair!!

Thank you sheriff for the links.

I think that is how they buried Clyde Tolson?????????

Might want to consider paving your lawn and painting it green to avoid another unfortunate circumstance as this. That way you can sell your mower and buy more Smiths.

I would like to buy an old gripframe just to make grips on but you don't even have that left .
O the horror, the horror.
The lesson here is avoid yardwork, go shooting.

I'm not sure I believe any of you guys.

I have a John Deere 175 and that gutless POS won't pull itself off a flat spot much less chop up a gun. It does such a poor job of cutting grass, it takes 2 passes.

I doubt it would cut open the case the gun was in.

I carry my 360PD while mowing. It ain't for snakes, it is in case I have to put that John Deere out of its misery.
