Ouch! I'd send it off to S&W requesting a high gloss re-blue and see what they send back.
Have you considered a Sigma or M&P? Either of those would be less wear and tear on the mower.

Ahhh, you can list that on Gunbroker and recover some of your costs. Just mention some minor "holster wear."
I think this could be a nice candiddate for someone with good photoshop skills.

I always carry when on the tractor or the mower(big yard). But always in a belt hoster witha retaining strap.

Sorry to hear about your loss and I truly feel your pain. Luckily no one was hurt or killed as the piece was ejected out from the mower deck. I can just hear those bastard liberals then.

Deere always has built one hell of a mower.
If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny. Call S&W for a return label. The worst they can say is no, and you're no worse off than you are now. Who knows? they might actually send you a replacement. But take good photos of the gun and your mower and send them to John Deere. You might even see it re-created in a TV ad. (And maybe get a few bucks, too.) If I'm not mistaken, it has to be reported to BATFE as "destroyed". S&W can do that for you as well. -Ed.

I would think a reputable company like S&W shouldnt have a problem fixin that. 
Go to J&G's website and order a used Model 10 from them. Most are holster worn but not shot much, and they are reasonably priced. Even better, get a Model 64.
Last summer I saw a Colt Service Ace that had been bush-hogged. Sad sight

Maybe the model 10 was severely depressed and couldn't go on living any more. you didn't hear by chance...."goodbye cruel world......" at any moment running up to the tragedy? Really sorry for your lose.

Had the same thing happen to my farm gun, a 2 3/4" Ruger Speed Six.
Was bush hogging 8-9 years ago, and my paddle holster came apart, and dumped the sixgun. I heard two shots, and stopped.
Found most of the pieces, about the same shape as yours.
I actually toyed with sending it to Ruger, to test their fabled warranty, but just didn't have the cajones to do it.
Kept the parts, and used several to repair a friends Ruger, so it kinda lives on.
Still miss that brute strong gun.

Agree 100%! I am a little surprised that the JD won in the first place, but undamaged? Definitely worth advertising - although they might consider paying the cost of the funeral, considering that their "demographic" is probably rather pro-gun.

I'd ask for a box-tell them you are very displeased as to the quality of their guns and they ought to "make it right." Worst they can do is say no.

It is unfortunate the the OP was deluded into believing that his Smith and Wesson was of such quality that it would withstand the rather tame impact of the whirling blades of a bushhog..I for one would rather see the OP replace his snake gun with something much more durable and substantial than a lowly Smith and Wesson revolver...I have linked some more durable choices below...

My S&W has been replaced with a Remington 870, 20ga, 18 1/2bbl. Services for the S&W will be held in Lake City, Fla in our side yard, at 7:30pm. A proper PVC Casket has been purchased & will be for viewing between 6:30 - 7:30pm. All S&W'er are welcome.

Might want to consider paving your lawn and painting it green to avoid another unfortunate circumstance as this. That way you can sell your mower and buy more Smiths.

I'm not sure I believe any of you guys.
I have a John Deere 175 and that gutless POS won't pull itself off a flat spot much less chop up a gun. It does such a poor job of cutting grass, it takes 2 passes.
I doubt it would cut open the case the gun was in.
I carry my 360PD while mowing. It ain't for snakes, it is in case I have to put that John Deere out of its misery.
