Should be getting the Christmas issue soon. Ordered a couple from them in the past. Good selection and enjoy looking at all the fantasy items they carry. Blade Headquarters is another good source located in Lehi Utah. Check em out on line as their selection is fantastic.

Yes this is the Christmas issue . Thanks for Blade too

I'm not a Case collector, but I'm addicted to knives Spyderco folders in particular. I see another addict in the making here.

At least knifes are less expensive than guns. :o

I've got a Spyderco Positron inbound from Knife Center due in the mail for Monday. I've also bought from DLT Trading. Surprisingly, Midway USA has good knife deals occasionally. There are quite a few every reputable knife dealers out there with many tempting slivers of steel.

So you thought one Peanut would be enough. ;)

Well I thought one and only Case would do lol. Got alot of different lockblades that ride solo in strong side rear pocket. The peanut or swiss army rides weakside front pocket with keys.I use the longer blade on peanut for paper chores and envelops, and cutting my sandwich sometimes. The smaller blade gets the work out. Been doing a lot of remodeling. I just thought the 3 blade. Small Stockman would keep me a food blade only lol. Thats a good enough reason for most guys I guess. Alot of the Girls will never get it. ( why do you want another knife ? Lol )

How true concerning the "knife addic" comment. Been bitten myself a couple years back. Have not had a small collection since I was a kid. Decided it was about time and added a meager but quality selection which includes the Buck Alpha folder for carry and game skinning, Buck CSAR folder which comes with a sheath, Sog Trident Tanto which has AUS-8 steel, and the Gerber Prodigy Tanto with 420 H.C. steel but the fixed blade is full tang and makes a great choice for backpacking and defense. Some decent choices that won't break the bank in my opinion. I hear Case is good quality and made here in U.S.A.

They are a good company to deal with if you stick with known
brands or quality. Over half the knives now on the market are
nothing more than a fancy shaped piece of metal with a fancier
handle. You have to watch even the big name brands are farming
their lower bracket lines out to foreign makers. I think Case is
the only one not into imports at all.

That Christmas catalog arrived a week or so ago, but I haven’t had a chance to look through it yet. I have never ordered from the catalog, but I have bought a few knives from them, so I guess that means I am permanently on their mailing list.

SMKW have a pretty good selection of Case knives, and they own the Rough Rider brand. Rough Rider slipjoints are made in China, but manufactured to a high standard, on a par with Case, IMO. The CW on Rough Rider used to be that they were pretty good “for the money” (typically about ten bucks), an easy way to see how you liked a pattern before spending more serious money on one. More recently, many collectors are buying them on their own merit. In addition, they have some patterns and finishes that you won’t see anywhere else.

Peanuts are an addiction in their own right. I have accumulated half a dozen from various sources, including a couple of Case, a couple of Rough Rider and an old Colonial. The yellow Case in CV steel is the one I carry a lot.

I live on the NC side of the National Park and it is a couple hours from the Smoky Mountain Knife Works. We are over that way a couple times a month. They also have a nice selections of guns. The biggest problem with picking out a knife, is there are so many to pick from. A great store to visit and do business with.

I've only had a woman tell me I brought too small a knife once. We were in a U-pick vegetable field. The knife was Bear GMC's version of the 2 5/8" Stockman that you are considering. While I have the Case tiny Stockman you are looking at in my collection and carry it some, frankly, a little larger Stockman makes a better general purpose tool.

However, if you want one of Case's tinniest Stockmans ordering from SMKW is a quick way to get one. SMKW is still owned by the family that started the business in the 1970s. Their biggest fault is that once they get your address those catalogs and flyers will keep on coming.

SMKW might be Case's best customer. SMKW has special ordered a great variety of knives from Case including both Trappers and Peanuts with 3 and 5 blades. SMKW bought a few brand names after those small high quality manufacturers closed shop. Among them are Colonel Coon and Robeson knives that SMKW has Queen Cutlery manufacture. Queen Cutlery made nearly all of Case's high end Classic line. The exception is SMKW custom ordered Case Classic pattern 6340 large Stockmans that were made by Blue Grass Cutlery. However, it's routine for SMKW's special factory orders of Case Knives to be built by Case themselves.

You might enjoy looking at Case College in Case's own website: W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co - Case College is your resource for more in-depth information about Case knives

I get one every year about this time, and enjoy it. I wish they would give the blade length, rather than the overall length of the knife. Blade length is very important to me, I shouldn't have to guess. They have a lot of other things in there too, I enjoy the tin signs.

If you liked the catalog,,,,you should visit the store!
I did and I was thoroughly amazed, never knew there were so many knives!
What surprises me is that I made a purchase in the store but it didn’t get me on their mailing list?.
But I did enjoy my visit there! ;)

My dad always gets my Christmas present from there. I get one or two Hen and Rooster knives each year. I have quiet the collection of them now. If he only gives me one knife, he'll throw in a long wheelbase ten to make up for it.

I have stopped by the store many times when passing by on the interstate. If you have never been there, allow plenty of time, it is not just a store, it is a museum of knives. Be prepared to spend some money. It is a wonderful experience, and whatever type of edged tool you like, they will probably be able to find for you. Can’t help but love the store. I’m also on their mailing list, and enjoy their catalogs as well.

Best Regards, Les
