Snake Boots

I've been using the TurtleSkin Snake Armor Snake Gaters for a few years and like them due to the fact they are very light weight and I can switch out the rubber boots that I wear underneath them. That's helpful when I step into a hole and the water goes over the top of my boots. Also, they are quiet when walking through the woods when hunting.

The only negative thing about them is the zippers are on the small size and can be a PITA to zip up sometimes; I usually rinse the zippers with water and rub them with Chapstick to keep them lubricated.

Let me recommend a pair of Lyle MacRostie's highland handmade knee-high boots. These are based on the original Gokey Botte snake-proof boots. As you can probably tell from the price, he doesn't really want to make you a pair unless you really, really want them, as he is old and they are a lot of work. (If these are single-layer boots, you may have to pay extra to get the two-layer tops.) But you would have to go a long way to find a better pair of snake-proofs.

As a coonhunter that runs dogs year around I use several different kinds of boots during the year. I think that for the price you would be real happy with the snake boots that Danner makes. Next in line would be the Lacrosse snake boot. The problem I have found with these specialty type boots is that while big box outdoor stores like Gander Mountain or Bass Pro carry them, they never carry them in wide sizes. I take a wide and if you do as well then you will have to order them direct.
If you want a pull on type uninsulated boot that last forever, is very tough and durable and comfortable as well you might want to check out Bekina boots. They are made in Belgium and are polyurethane...they are not touted as snake boots per se, but I can tell you that no snake could ever bite thru them.
If I am hunting where there are cypress trees I wear the 18" Matterhorn mining boots with the met-guard. I have more boots than I have dogs!!!
