Snow fall

He must live in West Yellowstone. Now that place gets a little snow.
You don't really have to shovel your drive way, Just have a good 4x4 and keep it packed down. Don't make ruts work the whole road side to side. Of course if you choice this method in the spring you will have a big thick slicker than snot sheet of ice to contend with. LOL

No snow, but it was coolish today. High around 70 after upper 90s for the last few days. I think it's supposed to get down to 45 tonight and be in the 70s again tomorrow. We do get snow but usually only once or twice a year, and it's rarely more than an inch.

Gee, thats do bad. I bet thats hard on the snowmobile salesmen:D

I do get tired of the snow, by spring, but, it is kinda fun to and the changing seasons make life better to me.

Like at the winter fair. They set up a course with piles of snow here and there and beside it a long smooth run. One guy hooks a line on the saddle skirt of a fast horse and another on skis grabs the rope. Horse takes off and the skier has to slalom through a bunch of flags as he goes up and down over the course of about 220 yards. Best time wins with a penalties if you miss a flag(s).

Cold makes the coyotes become prime, the deer come visit me every morning for their corn and come right to me. The pheasants hang out by the windows close to where I put out the corn. I just spend more time messing around in my shop. Town has pool, trivia, cribbage and pinochle tournaments. If thee streets get icy everyone just slows down and sometimes you see a horse drawn sleigh. Dinner parties instead of BBQs. Life in winter is different, but good.

I usually don't put the leaf bagger on the mower until December.

Stay warm and have a blessed day,

Leon

I can put on enough clothes to stay warm. I have been as naked as the day I was born and cooking.

Some people pay a big bill for air conditioning, some for heating.

I was in Ponca City OK in October, working nights and it was miserable. Nothing on but a tank top short's and a pair of coveralls and I was always wringing wet. Rather it was 0. Put on my thermal undies, flannel shirt, jeans, black line Carhart coveralls, wool socks and my White air bobs and some good gloves and be comfortable. Plus a good hard hat liner. When I was younger I would walk around all day in the snow hunting elk. Just stop once in the while, make a small fire, melt some snow and make a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. eat a snack and go some more.

Snow and cold is a lot about altitude and attitude

Growing up in NEPA, I'm used to snow.

Last winter was warm with little snow.

I think that I used the snowblower once, and that was a borderline amount of snow, I used it just to run it.

I wouldn't mind a real winter, with snow and cold, not freezing rain and sleet.

Our last winter here in northeastern Maryland was very similar...relatively warm with not much snow.

Keeping my fingers crossed...hope to see the white stuff piled neck deep to a giraffe this winter! :)

More snow falling this morning. ife said there is some ocean thing that is going to cause us to get hammered this winter. I think they can have a fair idea about 10 days out and after that they are staring at the crystal ball a bit to much. I'll know a lot more in late March.

I have a plow for my Polaris and a snow blower, plenty of winter clothes and natural gas.

When outside a little bit ago and the old doe who hangs out in back come trotting to see me, with last years fawn, now a spike and this years fawn

To her snow means I am going to give her some corn and I did. She comes up with in a few feet of me. Follows me over to the green house where I keep the corn and back to their "table" where I lay it out Most of the time the fawns stay nervous for most of the winter. But, the one year olds will usually get pretty brave. One year a twin fawn I named Piglet would come take crackers out of my hand. Her twin wouldn't come within 10' of me. If it gets really bad out I will have up to about 10 deer from the neighborhood start coming by everyday when it snows. I can see in the snow that they have a route they follow. The guy on the corner, then the judges place then mine, then down the street to another place. The pheasants will start stopping by to clean up anything the deer missed and get gravel from the driveway.

I haven't run my new generator since that freak snow storm in October. That's way over a decade ago. My son fired it up today. The welder generator is next. The regular generator runs my Keurig coffee maker. The welder generator runs the freezer. I'm just about ready for winter. I have plenty of firewood but I may grab two more cords to besafe.

Need to clean the dryer vent and chimneys next. Bring one chainsaw in the house to be ready.

Snow in the Rockies right on time.

Time to shop for Christmas?

Wife called me to look out the kitchen window. A little 3x3 (not counting his eye guards which are well over an inch) white tail buck was there. I said I think its Bucky who would be 2 years old now. He was a 2 point last year. I went out and got him so corn and even after not seeing me since last spring he let me get to within about 10 ft to take this picture with my cell phone

Meet Bucky

My son just got re-assigned to Malstrom AFB. My 3 year old grandson and 1 1/2 year old grand daughter got their first look at snow. He sent video. Snow around here is almost non existent. After six years assigned in Germany I love snow! My theory has always been I can always put more clothes on but if I take too many off I'm going to jail (where I'll still be hot)! Steelslaver, your baby deer make deer in my area look pitiful!

In a few more weeks a real buck will show up in the neighborhood looking to spark the ladies. Then Bucky may well be dangerous as his hormones may well overload his brain.I will need to keep a close eye on him.

I get to Great Falls quite a bit. The step daughters spend 3 out of 4 school weekends with their dad there. I even go on base to shop sometimes. If I can lend your son a hunting, fishing, shooting hand let me know. BTW as active duty military he can get a resident fishing and hunting permits. The Missouri river about 40 miles south of their is supposed to have more trout per mile than any other river in the country. I float it in the summers and it is loaded. There are deer and elk to the south, the west and east of there.
