Snow Snow And More Snow

Yeah only a couple of inches here, but this wind is brutal. By the time I got done cleaning up this afternoon, I had wind burn on my face, glad I didn't wait until now.

Wind will be 25-35mph with gusts to 45mph tonight, pushing wind chills to -30ºF or lower. Dangerous levels, frostbite happens within minutes. I hope the fire depts stay safe, I always hate these kinds of nights, because chimney fires are common. Stay safe out there!

Doing the wind thing here too. I've got the wood stove shut down as much as I can but the wind is still making it use wood like crazy.

Wind is howling outside at the moment, 8 degrees F suppose to go down to 4:eek:

This has been one tough winter and I hope Mother Nature is done with us.;)

I'm at zero and supposed to go to minus 6. I'm waiting for Mother Nature to run out of gas too. There's always a point where she tries to huff and puff and stir up another mess but can't quite do it and you know the writing is on the wall. I haven't seen it yet. But I'm hoping this "storm that wasn't" might be the first hint of us getting ready to see that winters back is broken.

I'm just a little bit ashamed of myself this afternoon. I was complaining about having to mow the lawn. It slows down in the winter time around here but you still need to run over it every 2 weeks or so to keep the tops knocked off the weeds and keep the stragglers from gettin' too tall.

Tell me, you still gotta keep your car plugged in at night to keep the motor oil from freezing? I know some folks have to live in that kind of cold but I'm just glad it ain't me. I'll take my humidity and 'skeeters and occasional tropical weather every time.

Y'all have my sincere sympathy, rilly!

Just ran out a 10PM to start the car, 2F:eek:

I'll be out again around 7AM.

2°? That's a heat wave.
It only warmed up to about -1° here today.

It's -8° right now.
Wind chill of -28°.

It was chilly out there moving snow today.

Yeah, but that is a standard temperature for your location at this time of year.

I'll bet if you go outside and stick your tongue on any type of pipe it won't stick.;):)

Seriously, isn't this just sort of a normal winter for you guys, temp etc?

It's actually started out abnormally, in that it didn't snow here until after Christmas.
Some years there is some snow before Halloween - it doesn't stick, but it snows.
Most of the time, we can count on snow definitely before Thanksgiving, but it was late this year.

Since winter actually showed up, it has been a fairly normal winter here. A manageable amount of snow and cold, nothing out of the ordinary. Even the couple times we've gotten dumped on, it wasn't too horrible - maybe a foot at a time +/-.

The big ones that have socked New England have pretty much all missed us - the one that hit you guys the week before the Super Bowel - the night you were getting pummeled - we had a clear, starry sky here.

Around this date in 2007, we here in Central New York were starting to dig out from 3 big snowstorms in a row - 2 big lake effect bands and a nor'easter walloped us back-to-back-to-back.

A town about 30 minutes north of here got over 12 feet of snow in just a few day span - yup, you read that right. ;)
We didn't get socked that hard - we only got about half that amount.

Ahem...... I've got to drive 200 miles RT in this tomorrow.
