So how did you meet your wife/husband/what not?

Met my better half in a bar before I graduated. Had been hitting the bars with my buddies for some time, usually with success. But the effort was getting tiring. So I told by best friend that "tonight was going to be my last".

Got to the bar, looked around, and saw another friend's sister and female cousin. Spent some time on small talk. Later, saw them both talking to this short-haired blonde, wearing a black blouse and gray skirt.

Then observed this short-haired blonde talking with another guy, who had a drink in one hand and a cigar in the other. I saw him leave, so I went up and introduced myself.

She told me that this other guy was trying to impress her with talk about his fancy car and his money. I asked her if she was interested in him. She indicated "no", but he was going to the bar for some drinks for the both of them.

So....I suggested she "play along" with me upon his return...

He came back with drinks-in-hand....I introduced myself as the girl's brother...he looked at both of us, and said he "saw the resemblance"...

She and I talked about "mom"...the "family dog"....the "issues she was having with her car"... utter bs, but he didn't know.

Kept him out of the entire conversation.

He left.

Later, he saw us dancing together, and gave me "the glare".

I shot "the glare" right back at him.

At evening's end, I walked her out to her car. It had been snowing, so I suggested she get inside and warm up the car, while I brushed the snow from her windows. I got her phone number, and told her I'd call on Thursday.....I called her on Wednesday.

Today.....33 years later...trials and tribulations but still together....she brought three (3) wonderful sons into our world.... and she turned out to be the best thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life.

I will state with all sincerity that my spouse has turned me off to all other women...this is meant as an utmost compliment to her...no one could ever follow in her footsteps.

I love threads like this!

The setup: My wife and I both had very bad first marriage's.

Honestly,,, I had given up on the dating crud. Sure the sex was good. But man where there some screwed up lady's out there. Just a week before I had hit my knees and asked God if I was worthy of a wonderful women as he had intended. I was at my wits end with the dating game.

So the next weekend I was out riding my RZ-350 with a buddy and his XS1100. Both bikes were far from stock. We had ripped every street up in town and burnt up much of our fav. twistes. Showed every lawman we could find the oil drain plugs of our engines. ( This is a great town to this day for adult children. :) ) He suggested we stop at a bar. He wanted to see if one of his swing dancing partners was about. Sure what the heck. But I was fed up with the bars and fly's.

Turn's out that's where I met her. She was his swing dancing partner. And she was a little cutie,,, had a nut job GF with her. But there was something about her. I got ready to leave. But told her,,, If you ever want to ride a real motorcycle, let me know. ;) ( small town )

The next day I rode out to the local lake. Strapped a lawn chair and mini cooler on the bike and wanted to write a letter or two to my daughter. Setting there writing away to my daughter a car pulls up. I look up and it was her with her two daughters. A bit of small talk and we fell in love. Not lust,,, love.

We spent the whole day at the lake. I was burnt to a freaking crisp. She offered to cook me a meal. I took her up on the offer. She fed me, more chit chat. I got my letters written to my daughter. But we both knew, this was it. I didn't want to leave her nor did she want me to leave. But I had to come out of the cloths I was in. I was in bad shape. So bad I was off work for a week or better over the burn. I should have been in the hospital. The cloths came off and she has taken care of me ever since.

19 years we have been together and coming up on 15 years of marriage. I have the answer to a prayer with me everyday. Just last night she cooked us that first meal. I call it our LOVE food.

Thank You God!!!!!!

I actually met my wife in an online chat room.
Progressed from chat room, to IMs, to phone calls, to lunch.
Got to know each other with it just being talk.
I was recently single and NOT looking for another woman at the time.
We just happened to be a perfect fit.
We met 5 years ago, are approaching our 2nd anniversary... October 31 2008.
I have never been happier in my life.

Met my sweet hubby at work. Invited him to a Def Lepperd concert. Almost 16 years ago. He still carries the ticket stubs.

I was 14 years old and was visiting my grandmother for a few days. Having previously lived there I was well aquainted with one of the teachers who taught several of my classes. He and I had also spent a lot of hours hunting after school.
I knew that his youngest sister and his widowed mom had moved in with him. I had seen her but never met her. I decided to give him a visit in hopes of meeting his sister. I walked a couple of blocks to his house and sitting in the porch swing was his sister, looking prettier close up than she did at a distance.
I introduced myself and asked her to go to a movie and that started a
romance that ended in a marriage that will have lasted 67 years on the 15th of August. I am a very lucky person.

First wife: Met in a bar, went out for 2-3 months, got married, had two kids, got tired of each other, got divorced and remained friends til she passed away at age 41.

Second wife; Was cousin to first wife and began dating. She left her husband and we got married when her divorce was final. Remained married for a couple years and she went back to her ex hubby.

Third wife: Met her at a swing party and married a month later. Divorced a year later due to her parents involment in our lives. Still great friends.

Fourth wife: Met her after a traffic stop. Married four months later and that was 37 yrs ago.

Fifth wife: Looking now at prospective partners.

Liveing here in utah I have fun introduceing my wife as my "favorite wife". It back fired a little a few years ago. My daughter was driveing through and called me. Dad, I am driveing to colorado, am here in town but I have mother with me. (We had a bad divorice). Okay, theresa and I will meet you at applebys.
We all showed up about the same time to get a table. There were a couple of poligamists nearby and I thought I would be cute. The place was kind of noisey but everybody shut up almost on cue when I told the waitress, this is my favorite wife. My Ex, popped off, well I guess that makes me your least favorite Ex wife! All that went over like a turd in the punch bowl!

met her 8 years ago(as of few weeks back) at a used car lot(she did books, title ect) my best friend was working at.

Hey......where is a car(land cruiser) nut going to find a cruiserchick :D When I met her I had 3 Cruisers...at one point we had up to 15 of them, mostly because she talked me into them.

well after 8 years.....we are getting hitched in June :)

1st time for either of us, no kids, 40-45year old........why not?

We now work(partners in ownship w/other older couple) together in the firearms(and other LE related gear) biz. I left my past career of 20 years to do this, been a dream since I was 13 years old....somehow everything just fell into place.....like it was ment to be :)

Pretty simple, my cousins wife loved to play matchmaker and she set me up for a blind date with a young woman she had recently met. We hit it off, were married a year later. 27 years this october and we have manged to keep things together pretty well. Though I believe we are the only match she arranged that actually worked!

My wife was a platoon leader in a friend's truck company in 1st Cav Div. I was a company commander whose orderly/supply room was next door. He set us up at happy hour at the Officers' Club...the rest is history.

I met my wife in college. I was a senior and she was a freshman. She was actually dating my fraternity "little brother". I guess you could say I snaked his date. We've been best friends and lovers for 33 years now and have 3 beautiful daughters.......thankfully they take after their mom.

Meeting wives

Wife #1: Wisconsin had beer bars (until 1970's) where people 18 - 21 could drink beer, hard liquor was not served. She was a customer and I was an employee. Divorced 2 years later when I was in the Air Force. She married my best buddy. Pete and I were in the same barracks from basic training to first duty station. I lived with Pete longer than my wife.

Wife #2: Met her in the court house at the Verteran's Office when I went in to 'register' my discharge, DD Form 214, so it would be permanently on file at the Veteran's office. Sometimes in life, you just have to accept the end, even for a marriage. She got what she wanted, my $$$$$, and we moved on.

Wife #3: Met her at my favorite gunsmith. Three weeks later, I brought 38 Spl reloads to her at an indoor range, and the rest is history. I've bought her her 5 S&W revolvers and a bright stainless steel government Colt 45 acp that was accurized for bullseye. At first I thought she just wanted me for cheap ammo. It's been 5 years of love and the greatest happiness ever for us. I've been retired 3 months so I have plenty of time to reload and cast bullets. ;););)

Wife#1, high school sweetheart, dated five years, married her a few months before I went from the National Guards to Active Army. While going through Basic Training (again, I went Infantry) she filed for divorce, her mom scared her to death with tales of long lonely nights in foreign countries while I was out on maneuvers. Years later she admitted she was an idiot... I agreed with her.

Wife#2-- met her through a member of my platoon, I ended up getting stationed in California just south of where she lived. Rebound from the above mentioned divorce and lots of alcohol led to a wild night in Lake Tahoe and a trashy wedding in one of those roadside chapels... put up with her through three kids and 25 years till her laziness and alcoholism turned violent, then took the 16 year old daughter and moved while the divorce happened...

Met Wife#3 and the LAST ONE on the job, wasn't looking for anything, had reconciled to just taking care of my kids till they were on their own. She worked in the machine shop... things went pretty fast after that, been married a year in October after living together for a couple years to make sure she (and I) was a keeper. Took fifty damn years to find a good woman, but gotta say it's worth all the crap we both went through over the years, she says the two bad husbands she had (one pervert, one druggie) lets her really appreciate what good care I take of her!

Sometimes, I think we wish we could just meet our mates from the get-go, and prevent wasted time.
Other times, I believe what makes what we are, and who we are...in the final end, experiences.
Congratulations on getting there. May you be blessed, and happy at last.
Jake

I am truly blessed with this woman... she insisted on paying for my CCW class and permit, and when I didn't like the pistol I was carrying, told me to find a different one, which was how I ended up with my SW40VE, lol!

My wife and i met in the pen aisle at walmart, she was a cashier and i was a stocker.I couldn't find the side of a barn standing next to one.Anyway they sent me some help to hurry me up.She appeared and once she heard me talk, instantly knew i had lived in Alabama. She swore she could barely understand me,i had slow down to talk to her.A couple of weeks later she and i hooked up for lunch date and now years later we have 3 sons who are slobs and we love em for it.:)

My wife's parents grew up 4 houses apart and were high school sweethearts. My wife and I didn't grow up that close but were in the same town. We were high school sweethearts as well. I was a sophomore, she was a senior when we started dating. Started hanging out as a group of friends before that. Broke up a couple of times when she was in college but I guess she figured me worth the effort. Been married 14 years this summer and together 22.

Complicated

I was divorcing my first wife, (she decided to come out of the closet. You know, THAT closet), was in love with a girl at the front desk, and met my wife who was a new nurse at the hospital I/we worked at. I divorced my Closet wife, got over the front desk girl, and married an angel. Later

My wife's parents were in my parents wedding so I knew her from childhood although I thought she was an annoying skinny little girl I wanted nothing to do with. We lost touch when we moved from Baltimore to PA but our families vacationed together in a large group of Baltimore people in Ocean City, MD when she was 16. She had changed!!!

We dated all through my college days and have been married for 45 years this October, two kids, 5 grandchildren.
