So I get a call from my local pusher...

Let me start by saying I never get the deals that some of you have posted here, that start out like my thread!

So he says, "I've got a 586 no dash in 6" I need you to appraise for me". (He's new to the S&W revolver thing) I said I'll be over in a few. I get there and it's an "easy" 98% gun. It came with the manual (no box), 3 HKS speed loaders, a monster Bianchi leather shoulder holster, Pachmayr Grippers and a 4 gun pistol case.

I looked it over and other than needing a cleaning, it really looked nice. I told him what I thought it was worth and he said "Would you give me $300 for it?" The rest is history!

It quickly brought back memories of the only gun I've ever had stolen from me. A M586 6" that I bought new in 1983 for $278. I think this one is from around that time frame also. Ser.# ADM90XX

He knows that I like boxes whenever possible. I said the only thing I have left from my first one is the Box! Well, I do have the original grips, tools, etc. I just got back from the range and had the Goodyear's on it when someone thought they liked it more than me and took it!

Anyway, I cleaned it and took these pics. Back in the saddle again as it were....

Man alive, that's a nice looking magnum. I've seen several like it go for 550.00 to 600.00 recently. In my opinion it's more desirable than any new S&W revolver. I'd say you did very well.

I told him $200 of course!!!

"Blue Book says 100% $650 98% $550, 95% $450 without the adder for the 6" barrel of $5".... and no box. So I said in reality, $450 to $500 range. He got it cheaper than what I gave him.

What would you have told him??

I have the exact same gun, same grips and everything, well my Dad has it but I like to think of it as mine. Bought NIB back in 1986, I doubt it's got more than 300 rounds through it.
