Let me start by saying I never get the deals that some of you have posted here, that start out like my thread! :)

So he says, "I've got a 586 no dash in 6" I need you to appraise for me". (He's new to the S&W revolver thing) I said I'll be over in a few. I get there and it's an "easy" 98% gun. It came with the manual (no box), 3 HKS speed loaders, a monster Bianchi leather shoulder holster, Pachmayr Grippers and a 4 gun pistol case.

I looked it over and other than needing a cleaning, it really looked nice. I told him what I thought it was worth and he said "Would you give me $300 for it?" The rest is history! :D

It quickly brought back memories of the only gun I've ever had stolen from me. A M586 6" that I bought new in 1983 for $278. I think this one is from around that time frame also. Ser.# ADM90XX

He knows that I like boxes whenever possible. I said the only thing I have left from my first one is the Box! Well, I do have the original grips, tools, etc. I just got back from the range and had the Goodyear's on it when someone thought they liked it more than me and took it!

Anyway, I cleaned it and took these pics. Back in the saddle again as it were....:)

That's the kind of story some of us can only dream about. Your new to you 586 looks like brand spanking new. The grips are really nice as are the photos you took. Thanks for sharing. Bob

Well, for $300, you din't git hurt too bad....;)

Nice grab!!

Man alive, that's a nice looking magnum. I've seen several like it go for 550.00 to 600.00 recently. In my opinion it's more desirable than any new S&W revolver. I'd say you did very well.

Well...? what did you tell him it was worth? ~ :)

I told him $200 of course!!! ;)

"Blue Book says 100% $650 98% $550, 95% $450 without the adder for the 6" barrel of $5".... and no box. So I said in reality, $450 to $500 range. He got it cheaper than what I gave him.

What would you have told him??

For $300 I would have broke my wrist getting my wallet out for that:)

I have the exact same gun, same grips and everything, well my Dad has it but I like to think of it as mine. Bought NIB back in 1986, I doubt it's got more than 300 rounds through it.

Boy that would look good at my house.....A beauty for sure. I don't think anyone else could have gotten that deal. You are in good standing with that pusher....Enjoy.

A really excellent looking revolver and a smoking deal. You done good.
Also really great looking pics. How do you guys do it? I am ashamed to even post mine compared to the quality of yours.

It's called karma:)

I sold a rifle for a lot less then I had hoped to get for it, and then only days later got a smokin' deal on a Model 60.
